Courtney's POV

"Mummy, Mummy! We have to get up, silly," I hear a voice call before I peek my eyes open, turning off my alarm that had most likely been ringing for the past ten minutes like it had yesterday.

"Did I sleep through my alarm again?" I ask my daughter as she climbs on top of me, giggling.

"Mhm, I heard it and so I woke up and woke you up with me." I nod, smiling at how Shelby explained it.

"Do you want some food and music on?" I ask my three year old bundle of joy.

Shelby shook her head making her ginger curls bounce up and down. She always listens to music, especially Ed's which I found coincidental. Shelby has her dads ginger hair, blue eyes, hobbies and his squishy cheeks. She has my appetite, bright smile, button nose and my bold personality.

I wasn't planning on telling my daughter about her dad, because I thought it would be easier for her to ask when she is ready if she really wants to know. I thought it might be easier than this- raising her without a dad, but it isn't. Sometimes, I just wish that he was here to hold her in his arms and comfort her and I both. If only maybe I would have told him, maybe he would have stayed or at least helped out in some way. His career is big and he has a big future ahead of him still, meaning he probably doesn't want to be tied down with a child, but I miss him a lot.

I pull the warm, cozy, tan duvet off of my body and pick up my daughter. I put her on my hip and walk out of my bedroom and down the stairs. I went to the living room, placed my phone into my iWorld and played the album called 'My Top Rated' on iTunes. I sat Shelby down on her blankets she had lied out from last night and pressed play. She started singing the words and moving around trying to dance. I walk to the kitchen, toasting three waffles and frying some bacon in a pan. I poured Shelby's favorite for her to drink- pineapple juice, and a glass of orange juice for me. I cut Shelby's waffle into tiny pieces before setting her plate on the table, as well as mine.

"Shelby! Come on," I call for her, but she wasn't paying attention to a word I had said. "Shelby Elisabeth, it's breakfast time," I called for her again. She sat in front of me at the island, smiling and eating quickly.

"I all full," Shelby says as she finishes the last bite of her waffle. I laugh, eating the last piece of bacon.

"Okay baby, let's go get ready to go see Amanda so Mummy can go to work," I say to my daughter who was now drinking some more juice.

She had a sad look on her face until I reminded her that my best friend, basically Shelby's aunt, Reese, and I are going to meet her and Amanda, her babysitter at the park after my shift.

I needed someone to help me with Shelby and Reese needed a roommate to live with when she turned 19 and decided to move out of her parents home, so she moved in with me which ended up being a win-win situation. We worked our butts off and got enough money to buy a decent sized, two story semi-detached home.

I put Shelby down once we were up the stairs and she follows me to my huge bathroom. The bathroom has a shower with a stained glass, sliding door and a regular jet tub to relax in. I pulled off her little onesie and put her in the bathtub and turn on the jets, watching her face brighten up. I help her out of the bath and wrap a towel around her. After I pick out an outfit for her to wear, she sat down on my bed and I dressed her in a cute lilac colored dress and pulled her hair back, putting a bow in it.

I turn on the shower for myself, stepping in and washing my hair and body before running a razor from my knee, down. I got out, drying off with a towel and blow drying my hair. I lay on my bed just thinking things thru; maybe I should text Ed and tell him now or maybe call him, maybe even fly up to his next concert and tell him in person. Seeing him face to face would scare me to see his expression though, so you can mark that out. Calling him is out also, because I would get choked up on my words and wouldn't be able to tell him. To text him, well he probably wouldn't answer me and he would be mad that I told him over text so now I have nothing. I let out a big sigh, looking at Shelby who had her head on my pillow with my blanket half way covering her legs.

After finally getting up, I quickly change clothes, already wanting to be out of the uncomfortable uniform. I do my makeup and put my hair into a fishtail braid. I walk back to my closet and grabbed a jean jacket and a pair of all black Converse. After I put on my jean jacket and shoes, I get Shelby up.

"Are you ready, Shelby?" I ask her, helping her off the bed and grabbing her small hand in my larger one.

"Yes, Mummy, but-but my jacket too," she insists, pulling on my hand.

"Okay, calm down, Shelbs," I say, grabbing her jean jacket and putting it on her.

I started up my car and rolled down the front windows, since it was already getting warm outside. It was too cool for the air conditioner, but too warm to have no air coming through. I turn up the radio and one of my favorite songs was on, "Sail" by Awolnation. I sung along to the catchy tune as I drove to Amanda's house, which didn't take long.

"Hey baby girl," Amanda says to the little girl who was reaching her arms out and smiling ear to ear when the door opened. We walk straight into a huge living room and sit down.

"Thank's for still babysitting her after all this time. Is she any trouble?" I apologize, like I do everyday.

"No, not at all. She's more like my little sister," Amanda jokes.

"Oh no! I don't have two kids, I had her at eighteen and I'm barely twenty two now. This factory is closed for at least a few more years."

Amanda laughs, causing me to join in. Shelby was making weird noises trying to entertain herself, I just look at her and laugh at her weird tactics. Amanda sighed and looked at me before she began to speak. Every morning that we're not running late, Amanda and I usually sit around and have girly chats which are always well needed.

"So how's it going? Have you talked to Ed yet and told him about her?" Amanda asks. I sighed and just sat back in the chair, shaking my head.

"Hey, Shelbs how about go in your room and play with some toys and I'll be in there in a minute," Amanda suggests, helping Shelby off of the couch. Shelby ran to the room where she takes naps at and plays with her toys while she's over here.

"I haven't talked to Ed yet and I don't know, he's all famous now. What if he forgot about me and doesn't want Shelby?" I say quietly, looking down at my nails that I had been picking at.

"Court, he loved you and probably still does, I mean the way he loved you will never fade away and anyone could see that. How could he forget you? He's also really caring and would help you with Shelby! You have to tell him sometime," Amanda responded.

"I don't know, he probably doesn't even remember me, or any of us."

"Court, come on! You still have his number right?"

"Yeah but, what if he changed it?" I state, sounding more like a question.

"Yeah, probably for security reasons and management, but you never know until you try." Amanda looks around the room and I nodded my head. The only noise in the room was the slight crashing sound from toys that Shelby was playing with around the corner and the ticking of the clock above the fireplace.

"Well, I guess I should get to work before I'm late. Shelby is calling for you to play with her, Manda," I say while pointing to the girl peeking around the corner calling for 'Manny'.

"Okay, Princess, one minute. Come say goodbye to Mummy," Amanda said.

"I love you and I'll see you at the park," I said, hugging Shelby. She puckers her lips out and I kiss the most precious thing in the world to me.

I hand Amanda Shelby's bag and hug her tight. I walk out of the door and get in the car, driving to Macca's to get a little pick me up, suddenly getting really tired. I'm sure if I don't get some kind of energy booster in my system soon, I'd crash right here in my car. As I was in line, waiting for my coffee, my phone started ringing and I looked at the caller ID, shocked.

A/N: During this story, Shelby is almost four so in her dialogue, there will be stuttering and incorrect grammar. I know there are mistakes in her dialogue, but it's for the sake of the time period.
