The past couple of weeks were filled with baby talk between Katherine and I which has made me sceptical, small, meaningless arguments between Ed and I, Shelby and I going to the studio with Ed, and lunches with Kellin. Right now, I was curled up on the sofa on my side, Shelby sitting on my hip while she watched cartoons. Ed was sitting on the floor beneath me answering important emails while I played with his bright, orange, messy hair. Hadley was in the kitchen making her something for lunch and Reese had been at work for a few hours now. It was a gloomy day outside per usual; it was the UK after all.

"So Shelbs, your birthday is coming up in a few days," Ed said out of nowhere, locking his screen and turning around to look at the small toddler who had a bright smile on her face.

"You know her birthday's coming up?" I asked with a small smile.

"Yes, Courtney. She is my daughter, too."

Okay, ouch.

"I know she is, you look just alike. You've never been around for her birthday's and I wouldn't have thought you would have known," I said quietly.

"I wonder why." Ed's eyes flickered to mine and I furrowed my eyebrows. A pang of hurt went straight to my heart when he said that, knowing how bad I feel for not telling him about his daughter.

"Ed, that really hurt my feelings," I said and blinked back tears. He glanced at me again and his expression softened.

"I'm sorry, Babe. You know I didn't mean it like that."

"I just didn't think you knew. It just took me by surprise," I said, picking at my nails.

"I know, I'm sorry," Ed replied, moving from the floor to sit beside me. I smiled up at him weakly as he leant down to peck my cheek.

"Birthday!" Shelby said excitedly. I laughed, leaning up and setting her on my lap.

"What do you want to do for your birthday?" I asked, playing with my daughter's messy curls.

"Princess' and clowns." I looked up at Ed with a strange expression and he chuckled.

"No dragons?" Ed asked and I playfully hit his arm.

"You can never forget about the dragons," Shelby boasted, making me laugh.

"Why not something a little more for everyone, like a pool party?"

"I guess. I'm going to play with my barbies, I'll be back out when it's my party." Shelby got to the floor, going to her playroom off of the living room.

"We have a strange daughter." Ed nodded his head, smiling. I rested my head on his shoulder.

"Are you sure about a pool party?" Ed asked and I nodded.

"Yeah, maybe we can invite close family, Bria and Carly, have some pizza and snacks. Maybe a movie outside at the end?" I suggested and Ed kissed the top of my head.

"I love that idea. We can set everything up and make invitations this weekend, even invite my parents. They haven't even seen Shelby before, I'm sure they'd love to. They always ask about her on the phone," Ed said and I smiled, nodding quickly.

"I miss your mum, I'd love for your parents to be here," I smiled as Ed got this extremely cheesy grin on his face.

"Let's go out for lunch, just you and I. I have some important news to tell you." I hummed in response, lazily getting off the sofa and going to ask the girls if they could watch Shelby. When they agreed, I went to the other side of the stairs, going to Ed and I's room.

I picked out a long sleeve, white, crop top, acid washed jeans, and a pair of white flats. I quickly changed clothes, throwing my hair up in a ponytail and spritzing on some perfume. I did a smokey eye and a nude lipstick for makeup. I brushed my teeth, put on some deodorant, and grabbed my purse after throwing on a leather jacket. Ed came in the doorway as soon as I was going to step out, making me run into him. He slipped his arm around my lower back to stop me from falling, due to the impact of his weight pushing me back. He leaned in, planting a kiss below my jaw.
