CHAPTER FOUR
Her New Home
June 2, 2010. Wednesday. She wasn't able to sleep well. Thus, she had woken up late. She called her boss using her mobile phone.
Her boss answered, "Hey, Aimee. Where are you? Is it true that you're engaged to be married to Ramil Arevalo."
Aimee remembered Sofia writing about her engagement to Ramil. "Yes, ma'am," she told her female boss who was on her forties. "I won't be able to come for my classes anymore, ma'am. He wanted me to resign from my job. I also need to look after Ivan. He is still in the hospital. I'll go there later to file my resignation."
Her boss said, "I understand, Aimee. Actually a lot of paparazzi are by our campus gates."
"Thanks for the info, ma'am. I'll see you later."
The phone conversation ended. Guada came in with a maid carrying a tray full of breakfast dishes.
"Good morning, ma'am," Guada greeted her as she motioned the maid to set up the breakfast in a small circular table with two chairs near the window.
Aimee greeted her back, "Good morning, Guada."
Guada informed her, "Sir left early for work, ma'am. He instructed me and Juan to accompany you at the hospital, your apartment and at your place of work. We need to settle your bills and get your valuables as well as your brother's. We'll be ready to leave as soon as your ready ma'am."
"Thank you, Guada," she replied.
She went to the table to eat breakfast as Guada and the maid prepared her bath as well as her clothes, shoes and bag.
She didn't eat much last night so she was hungry. She drank the freshly squeezed pineapple juice, ate bread along with bacons, egg and sausages and munched the small slices of apple, banana and ripe mango. She had her breakfast while reading the morning paper. She read Sofia's article about her and Ramil.
Guada and the maid left as she finished eating. Her bath had already been prepared as well as the clothes, bag and shoes that she would wear. A light yellow sundress with a calico pattern of light purple and light pink flowers was paired with a light yellow short-sleeved bolero just long enough as the lower line of her breast. There was also a light yellow casual handbag and a light yellow peep-toe low wedge shoes.
She did her five-minute morning stretching exercises then proceeded to the bathroom, took a bath, dried her hair and dressed up. She just opted to wear the diamond engagement ring from the set Ramil had given her. She didn't wear anymore pieces of jewelry.
Juan and Guada were both ready when she went out of her bedroom. Greetings had been exchanged.
"Where do you want to go first, ma'am?" Juan asked.
"Hospital first, then campus and then my apartment," she answered.
They arrived at the hospital at around nine o' clock in the morning. Ivan was still in ICU because his heart was being closely monitored. She still couldn't speak but he had searched for her left hand as if he knew about her wedding engagement to Ramil. Just as when he saw the ring on her finger, Ivan smiled and raised his both his hands for thumbs up.
She said, "You seemed to be very happy about it."
Ivan smiled and lightly nodded his head for approval.
After an hour, they left for the campus. There were paparazzi as expected but they never knew which car Aimee rode. Jose had managed to enter the gate without any hassle. But a few paparazzi had already spotted Aimee when the window had been opened for her to be seen by the guard so they took snaps of her.
