Torchwood files: Jack's Son (completed)

15 years later

Carolynne sat quietly in bed she was now 35, 15 years after she walked away from Torchwood, and Jack. "It's Liam's 15th birthday..." She thought to herself as she stretched her arms "I hope he doesn't ask again this year... I think he knows that I'm lying" she muttered. She threw the duvet to the other side of the bed and crept across the dark hallway to peek into Liam's room, he tossed and turned  in his sleep, she smiled then tip toed to the kitchen and began to cook his breakfast.
Liam laid in bed a soft smile on his face as the smell of fresh pancakes filled the room, He turned over to face the doorway and say his mother standing there holding a tray of a plate of pancakes, yogurt with fresh strawberries, and an orange juice "good morning sweetie" she chimed "morning mum, what's the occasion" he joked "oh you know just my little ones birthday" she kissed his forehead "how was your sleep?" She smiled ruffling his short hair "it was good... You were having nightmares again though" he frowned looking up at her "are you okay?" He asked "I've always had nightmares, since I was little, it's nothing to worry about"she reassured him "now eat up grandma and grandpa are coming soon" she smiled as she left the room, Liam dug into his breakfast happily.
Laura and Glen entered the house, "mum, Glen!" Carolynne smiled hugging them "where's the birthday boy!" Laura giggled "right here" Liam smiled as he rushed down the stairs "happy birthday Liam" Laura giggled hugging him "happy birthday kiddo" Glen smiled "thank you" Liam smiled.

Hours passed Glen and Laura chatted with Liam while Carolynne cooked supper "so how is high school?" Laura asked "it's going well" Liam replied "what was mum like when she was my age?" Liam asked out of the blue "we only got to see her a little bit she just disappeared one day but came back months later... She was hurt badly" Laura frowned "five years later she left again and came back with you" Glen added "where'd she go?" Liam asked intrigued by the new information "Cardiff" Laura replied "what's going on in here" Carolynne smiled as she walked in "oh nothing just seeing I your boy has a crush" Laura teased "what I do not have a crush!" Liam exclaimed as his face turned red "well supper is ready" Carolynne smiled, they all nodded and went to The dining room table and ate.
Carolynne stood in the kitchen doing the dishes after Laura and Glen left, Liam stood off to the side "mum... Who's my dad?" He finally spoke the same question as he did at all his other birthdays "I've already told you the answer he passed away" she replied knowing the truth "why do you ask?" She continued "well grandma and grandpa told me you were in Cardiff when you were 15, and when you were 20 and that's when you had me..." He frowned "why didn't you tell me?" He continued, Carolynne's back was facing Liam, she gripped the handle of a knife in the sink "they did..." She spoke through clenched teeth "well he passed after you were born..." She continued to lie "don't lie to me" he muttered "why do you think I'm lying?" She calmed down "because it's the same answer you never go into detail" he sighed his voice becoming more aggressive "yes I've been lying to you but the truth is much worse than the lie" she replied "then tell
Me the truth about Cardiff and dad" he shouts "I can't" she growled "now got to your room!" She shouted, Liam's look of anger turned to a frown he nodded and left to his room, Carolynne frowned and dried off her hands and pulled out a picture from her wallet "I can't do this anymore" she whimpered.
