It's been two weeks since Roman has told me that I'm the 'key' to whatever the hell will happen. In that time, I should have learned how to prepare myself, and Enki should have told me more. But did he? Nope. All I've been doing is going to school, of course shadowed by four people. Yeah, Dantalion decided he should stick around constantly. They won't even let me try to advance my magic. Modi think's it's a good idea, and we've finally got Enki on board with it, but with Roman hanging over me, it's nearly impossible to get anything done! And focusing? Forget about it. I've taken it upon myself to secretly learn 'the evil eye', which is exactly how it sounds. Apparently, if I master it, I can 'put someone under my control' or scare them away with enough negative energy. Yeah, that'd be a useful skill, one that I will definitely make great use of.

Currently, though, Enki just wants me to develop my aura and learn how to read others. It's a pretty simple skill, and it's easy enough to do, but I have to be 'perfect' in applying it, otherwise Enki won't let me move on to the next skill set. I don't mind going through all these basics and mastering them, I'm just scared that we won't have enough time to finish. What if all this craziness starts, and I'm only on the banishing ritual (which is the still beginner)? I can't be useless, I have to help! Literally, I have a world to save! That's a lot of pressure for a teenager!

"Lorin! Focus!" Enki says, while sitting in front of me.

"Yeah, sorry. Where were we?"

He sighs. "Let me start from the beginning. Once again, all auras or unique, like a fingerprint. Auras can be used to attract, repel, protect, maim, or even kill. You need to open your third eye to be able to see them, and after practice, you'll be able to see them without having to go into a trance. Now, is your third eye open?"

I think about it. "Yeah, yesterday was the fourth day of meditation on it."

"Good, now, you don't always have to do this, but I want you to for now to help you focus. Put your hands in the position they were in while meditating.

I take my right hand and make a fist around my left pointer finger. I take my thumb nail and find the spot where my cuticle ends, and press there. Once I feel the slight electrical shock, I know I've found the right place. I put myself into a light trance and gaze at Enki. I wait, and soon I see the slight tendrils of energy surrounding him. They slowly take form and change colour, but never staying on one colour. I purse my lips and furrow my eyebrows, trying to read them more clearly. When I do this, I see it jump to a bright, clear pink before settling back to the rainbow of colours.

"Your aura is weird." I say. He just chuckles.

"I know. Now, read someone else."

"Don't you want to know what yours is?" I ask. I mean, if someone was reading mine I would want to know. "Like, you're all rainbows, and then bright pink for a second, then back to rainbows."

Enki blushes while Dantalion and Modi laugh their asses off. "What's so funny? What does it mean?" They just continue to laugh. "Awe come on guys! Tell me!"

"Nope, little one! You must find out for yourself." Modi ruffles my hair and I shoo him away.

This is a very cool thing to be able to learn and know, even though I was complaining about how I thought I wasn't advacing enough. I can tell how vital this could be. The better I get at this, the faster I'll be able to read people, and see not only what their overall mood is, but split second changes to it and how to counter it. It's an overwhelming advantage that I need to take advantage of.
