Chapter 1 ~

You know how your older siblings just HAVE to torture you? Well try having one as a guardian. It's worse, cause there's no one stopping them from bugging you. I woke up when my door slammed open. I sat straight up, while my hair was puffed up from tossing and turning. My brother was standing in the doorway, with his arms crossed, and smirking. I glared at him.

"I will only say this once. I will not enjoy going to school today, therefore, I will not be going. So alert the school nurse, Bradley," I spat. I absolutely do NOT want to go to school today. I've been dreading it all month. Bradley walked into my room, further. Standing a few feet from my queen sized bed.

"You WILL go to school today. If you don't, I might not sign you up for a swim team when we move," he said calmly. I glared at him for using that card on me. Yes, we are moving. To where? I have no clue. Big B said it's a surprise. I think I'm getting a LITTLE old for that! We are leaving, good ol' Virginia to live somewhere we have NEVER been before.

"Damn you," I cursed. I got out of bed and stood up straight. I faced Brad and saluted him. He saluted me back with a goofy smile and walked out of the room. Closing the door with him. I puffed in anger and stood there. Thanks to the sirym, my emotions ate slightly stronger than the average human. By slightly, I mean by like 5.2% stronger. The scientists couldn't figure out why though, so might as well live with it.

Once I had my emotions under control, I entered my personal bathroom suite. Yeah, ever since "Miracle Day" the scientists have been obsessed with me. I complete their little tests and they give us money. I usually do running, workouts, regular school subject tests, and of course swimming.

They also draw blood from me, every once in a while. Apparently, no other subjects have been successful ever since me. They wonder if it's because of the mysterious sickness that I had. In fact, the sickness I had doesn't even exist. It's impossible, said the scientists. THEN HOW DID I GET IT, IF IT'S NOT REAL?!

I took a quick shower. The water was so hot, that it slightly made my skin red. I got out and quickly dried off with my plush towels, and blow dried my hair.Wavy hair and curly tips, as usual. I dressed in some blue jeans, a white v-neck t-shirt, a brown leather jacket, and a brown pair of leather boots. I put on my necklace. The pendant is a real blue sapphire gem. It oval and surrounded by diamonds. The long chain makes it so it rests just on top of my so called "balloons". If you get my point.

I climbed downstairs and put a waffle in the toaster. I poured myself a glass of orange juice while I waited. I drank that though because I'm just THAT hungry. When my waffle was done, I waited a minute for it to cool. I grabbed it and wolfed it down, like a starving orphan. Been there, done that. Not gonna go back. EVER. I looked at the coat and boot rack. My brother's stuff was gone. 'Must've left when I was in the shower', I thought. I shrugged my shoulders and grabbed my backpack.

I opened the front door and closed it behind me. I swung my backpack around and opened the front pocket. I pulled out my keys and locked the house. I jiggled and pulled on the door to make sure it was locked. Yep. I walked down the front porch steps, and headed towards the garage.

I pulled out my garage door opener. I clicked a button and the door lifted up, revealing the love of my life. Well, vehicle wise. It revealed my Ducati motorcycle. It was pure black, save for the light blue water splash & slash design that I had custom made on both sides. I grinned like a madman. God I love my bike. I took out my laser cut key, got on, and stuck it in the ignition. When I turned it on, the engine purred like a kitten beneath me. I chuckled at the simile.

I kicked up the stand, carefully turned around in the garage, and drove to my friend's house. Her parents had grounded her from driving to school, because of her grades. And since the bus doesn't come on base, I have to give her a ride. I drove the 15 m.p.h. speed limit. I didn't mind, gave me time to think. How was I going to explain this to them? I pulled into her driveway and shut off the engine.

"....careful! See you after school!" She yelled happily. I only caught part of it, since the door was in the way. I waved to her, and she waved back. She skipped down the stairs. I rolled my eyes at her. One word to describe her, impossible. She's optimistic, derpy, and weird. A good, funny weird.

Today, she was wearing some warm and comfortable clothes. She had jeans on, like me. For a shirt I don't know because her rainbow zip up hoodie was zipped all the way up. Her short brown hair ended at the middle of her neck and she had some cute bangs that covered her forehead. Her brown sees were sparkling with an inner light of laughter.

"What's got you so happy today, Felicia?" I asked. She's usually happy, but today she is just oozing with it. She looked at me, while raising her eyebrow. Oh, I put my backpack on both shoulders. She smiled at me and hopped on. We both put on our helmets. Mine was pure black, with the same water design forming into a V-shape on the back. Felicia's was just black.

"I might get my car back if I pass today's English test," she reported happily. I hummed in approval. I would ace the stupid thing anyways.

I zipped up my own jacket; careful to make sure my necklace was inside and not out. I shut my helmet visor, shifted my slim backpack, and nodded to Felicia. I felt her shift her position to a more comfortable one, before wrapping her arms around my waist.

I started the engine again and put both of my feet on the ground, stabilizing the bike. I sensed Felicia put her feet on the bike, allowing me to pull out of her driveway. I drove us out of our neighborhood and towards the exit. It didn't take long, considering that we live pretty close to the main checkpoint. I pulled right next to the guard booth.

"May I see your licence and both of your id's?"asked the guard. I got my wallet that held my licence and id, while Felicia handed me her id. I handed them over to the guard. He looked familiar.....

"Johnny? Is that you, man?!" I asked. This guy is Coach Tripp's nephew. Plus he is a pretty good swimmer. I even beat some of his records. He looked at me confused.

"Do I know you ma'am?"he asked. I rolled my eyes and took off my helmet. His eyes widened in recognition, while his cheeks slightly turned pink. Oh great, he's developed a crush. "Fun". I pretended I didn't notice.

"Hey, I didn't recognize you with your helmet on. How are things?"he pressed. I rolled my eyes. I opened my mouth to speak, but Felicia poked me in the side. It was our bike signal, telling me to go. Right, school.

"I've been good. Now can we have our stuff back? We need to get to school," I smiled kindly at him and winced. Making it look like I didn't want to say that. He's a good guy, I'm just not interested.

"Uhh, yeah sure. Sorry. See ya around?"his voice contained disappointment. He handed me our stuff, and I passed it on to Felicia. She put my stuff away for me. I put on my helmet and nodded to him. I was probably going to run into him sometime today. He smiled sadly at me and lifted the barrier. I reved the engine and took off. Steadily making our way off the base and towards the school. The place that would be the death of me.
