Prologue ~

I am a normal girl with normal problems. At least that's what I used to think. Some people don't have an older brother, whose nine years older than you and he's a sergeant in the US military. Not everyone's parents ignore you and your older brother when you're three; forcing them to live on the streets with no guidance or love. So those of you who think that you have it bad, I'm just getting started.

Before my brother turned 18 and was allowed to join the military without parent's approval, we were thieves; street rats. For SIX YEARS we ran. We stole everything that was necessary to survive. Food, water, clothing, shoes, you name it. Anything we could carry, that wouldn't weigh us down. For a bunch of starving kids, we were well built. Plus, if someone even tapped us on the shoulder, awake or not; we would immediately attack or wake up and attack.

Once, I got sick. I had such a high temperature, that my brother had difficulty touching my skin for long periods of time. I couldn't keep food or water down, I would just throw it right back up after a few seconds. What did my brother do, you ask? He wrapped me up in the biggest blanket we had and ran right into a US military base. Sure they pointed guns at us, but you want to know the kicker?

He did this on his birthday, the Monday right before Thanksgiving. He shouted, "I'm 18 and my sister is sick! I'll join your ranks, if you could just help my sister! Please, help her!" The soldiers didn't know if this was a trick or the real thing. My brother was standing in the center square of the base, with every gun and tank possible pointed at us. Luckily, for both our sakes, my body decided to give them a show.

I threw up A LOT of fresh crimson blood. Since my brother was carrying me bridal style, I got it all over us and the square. Neither of us noticed, then again I was fading in and out of consciousness. The soldiers figured it was real and let the medical team through. They asked my brother some important medical questions like, when did I last have to eat, etc. When they were done asking, they immediately wheeled me off to the base hospital. Leaving my brother alone with the officers on base.

In the hospital, the doctors were desperately doing everything they could think of to save me. This went on for a week or so. When they admitted that they couldn't do anything to help me, I was so weak and deprived of blood. It was almost as if I WAS a corpse. Then the highest officers and military scientists, that the US can offer, stepped in.

It turns out that, the US government, has been working on something BIG. They were trying to genetically enhance a human's bodily functions. But, for it to work, your body has to accept the series of shots that contain the (what I like to call) SuperJuice. Other wise known as the sirym. It was more like a bunch of chemicals and medicines and whatnot all mixed together in this clear liquid. So far, every test subject has failed. In other words, the person just suddenly blows up or dies; from their bodies not accepting the sirym.

The scientists figured that, since their previous subjects were in perfect health, my body would accept the sirym. They proposed that it would work, because my body would "bond" with the sirym to save itself. Let me just make this clear, for those of you who are confused. The scientists think that since I'm very sick, and will probably die, my body will accept the sirym, just to save itself; and I will become healthier and more fit than the average human being.

They injected me with the sirym, with my brothers permission, and hoped for the best. They said that I fell unconscious after the second out of 30 injections. Tell you the truth, I don't even remember any needles. They also said, that my heartbeat stopped for 15 minutes after the last injection. Then it just restarted on its own. The thing is, I didn't FEEL dead. In fact, I even had a DREAM.
