I shoved the last few things in my backpack as I heard Vince yell, "Hurry up, Mauriana, we need to head out," followed by multiple impatient honks. I ran out of the house and started to lock the door, but was having trouble. When I finally got it locked, I was already frustrated, so when I turned and saw that my mom had thrown away the shirt I had gotten her a few months back for her birthday, I got really pissed off. I quickly walked to the car thinking of everything she does to me and everything she says. Vince chucked half-used air freshener bottles and old CD cases in the back seat so I could have a seat in the front with him. I smiled as I tossed my bag in the open trunk and slammed it shut. I stared at him as we pulled out waiting for him to tell me where we were going. He stayed silent. All the warning I had gotten was a breif text, an hour before he showed up, saying to pack for a road trip and that he was on his way; when I asked where, he said he wouldn't tell me until we were already on the way. He made everything 'a surprise' just so I couldn't back out of it until it was too late. Finally I asked, "So, where are we going? You said you would tell me on the way." He turned to face me for a brief moment and smiled. As he turned back to look at the road he finally said "We are going to stay with my old friends from GreenWood. They want to meet you, and I need to get away for a while. Ruby and Jason said we could stay with them. The house is kinda full, but there is a bed in the attic." He had talked about his friends in GreenWood, but I didn't know much. I had only met one of the girls who stays with Ruby and Jason. She was my ex, Pixie. That's how I met Vince. We had been together for a while, but she was on a lot of drugs, so we ended things when it got bad. Leana, Jack, Amber, Jay, and Matt also live with them. It's a pretty big house, but Pixie said it felt small with so many people living there. I looked at Vince and said "Won't it be awkward with Pixie there? You know she is always flirting with me and I can't really do anything about it." He laughed "You know, I don't really mind it. I don't care about girls, but if a guy tries that, he's dead." I giggled and explained that I still wouldn't get with a girl because it seemed wrong because I was with him. "Suit your self" he said as he grabbed a cigarette and put it in his mouth and then handed one to me as well. I light his cigarette and then mine and turned on the radio. We sang songs and played road trip games as we continued on our adventure. I had no idea that my life was about to change drastically.
