BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

I roll over to see what was making that annoying beeping noise. I look over the arm of the couch, yes I'm still sleeping on it, too see the alarm clock by the bed.

I squint to see the time and it was only 5am.

"Five in the morning!" I shout as I then cuss under my breath. "Jesus, Emily turn that damn thing off." I shout at her sleeping body.

Why in the world would she set an alarm and one for this early in the morning? Whatever I don't care, I just want sleep. Oh beautiful and wonderful sleep, how I do love thee.

I roll back over trying to ignore that stupid beeping noise. I try everything from plugging my ears up with my fingers to nearly suffocating myself with my pillow. Nothing, nada, so drastic times calls for drastic measures.

Okay maybe not that drastic, because it's very early in the morning and I'm still very sleepy.

"Emily! Emily! You hoo, Sunshine! Wake up early bird! Please for the love all things wonderful, wake up!" I yell at her and I can see her body shifting, maybe I won't have to do it. I sit there for a few seconds. She stops moving. "Damnit!" I say as I sit all the way up.

I chunk my pillow at her and I get an immediate response. "What tha?" She says as she sits up in bed. "Daniel, why did you throw this pillow at me?" She said as she rubbed her eyes and hits the off button on the alarm.

"Sunshine, you set the stupid alarm for five this morning and it's been-" I say before she interrupts me.

"OMG! OMG! OMG! I over slept! I won't have enough time!" She starts saying as she begins to panic.

We don't need a panic attack this early in the morning, I think to myself as I prepare for action.

I quickly jump off the couch and rush to her side. I grab hold of her hand and tell her to breath slowly in and out. When she finally calms down, and the panic attack is no longer an issue. I ask the million dollar question.

"Why are you freaking out?"

"Daniel, the engagement party is today! I have to get ready and you need to be up and getting ready too!" She yells as she lets go of my hand jumps off the bed. She runs out the room shouting for Collin to wake up and start getting ready.

"Shit!" I say as I look up at the ceiling. I had completely forgotten about it. "Wonder if my mom would notice if we didn't show up?" I say as I lay back down in the bed.

"Yes she would and get your lazy butt up and start getting ready!" Emily shouts at me as she grabs her hair products and other girly things in that bucket of wonder they are kept in.

"No."

She stops in mid step and turns towards me. "No?"

I turn my head to her and with no emotion I say that simple word.  "No."

She puts her bucket of wonder down and walks over to me. Normally I would care and try to make her happy, but spending the day with my parents and their snobby friends doesn't sound to fun.

As she gets closer I can see the anger seeping through that stone cold face of hers. She comes up to the bed and puts her hands on hips. She squints her eyes at me and well, if looks could kill I would be six feet under right now.

"Daniel Steven Rhiner! Do not make me mad this morning!" She shouts at me and to be honest I'm terrified but as a man I must stand my ground.

"Emily Jane Lockett. I said no, and I'm sticking to my answer. Now go and do whatever you want, just leave me here." I say as I wave my hand to tell her to go away.
