Chapter 7

Amber hit the shower and got ready for work. He knew that he can't bring Sooyun in their company again because kids are not allowed there. He decided to call someone to look after her and his best friend crossed his mind. He instantly called Key and asked him to come in his place. He knew that this guy is not that busy in his line of work unlike him.

"This is the first time you invited me to come here." Key said when Amber opened the door for him. "What's up?"

"I just want to ask a little favor from you." Amber answered closing the door behind.

"Okay, this is suspicious!" Key spoke and Amber just scoffed at his antics.

"There is nothing to be suspicious about Kibum."

"Well, I'm gonna find it out."

Amber lead Key in the living room where he saw the kid who is watching a cartoon show that got him surprised as well as puzzled. He knew that Amber doesn't have any sibling so it's impossible that the little girl is his best friend's niece.

"Who is she?" Key asked Amber.

"She is a...lost kid."Amber whispered, unsure of what he is going to say.

He felt relieve that she didn't hear him.

"I want you to look after her." Amber continued that made Key raised his brows.

"Appa, who is he?" Sooyun asked curiously when she turned to them who are standing on one side.

"A-Appa?!" Key exclaimed, looking at Amber with widened eyes. "You bastard, you have a daughter?"

"Aish! Can you not use that language around her." Amber scolds Key.

Sooyun is looking at them with furrowed brows. She shrugged her shoulders and focused in her show. Key on the other hand mentally calmed down himself.

"Who's the mother? I didn't know you dated Asian girl before."

"She is not my child okay. She came her claiming that I'm her Dad." Amber explained keeping her voice low.

"Maybe you are really her Appa. I can see the resemblance. She has some of your genes."Key stated. "You date my race." Key continued and scoffed.

"Aish! Whatever! I'm off to work so watch her for me!" Amber replied with annoyance and approached the little girl. "Sooyun, you spend your time with Key, okay? Be good to him and always listen to him."

"Can I go with you instead? I don't want to be with him." Sooyun asked curving an angelic smile.

"I'm sorry but I can't bring you there anymore." Amber replied which made the child dropped her smile.

"Appa, can we meet Umma today?"Sooyun questioned Amber looking straight into his eyes. "I want you to meet as soon as possible." She continued trying to make him understand how badly she wants it to happen.

"After my work." Amber replied, curving a smile.

"Pinky promise?" Sooyun answered sticking up her pinky towards Amber.

Amber hesitated to give his promise to her but he is now in a hurry. So he gave his word.

"Pinky promise!" Amber replied locking their fingers. "See you later, okay." He continued curving a smile.

"Kids don't forget promises Amber." Key said to his friend.

"Just look after her while I'm gone." Amber replied and left.

KEY's POV

I bet this is a total shock to my best friend. I don't think that guy is thinking having a family in the first place and knowing that he has a daughter is shocking to him. It is probably the reason why he is still in denial. Amber said his goodbye to her and I can see in het eyes that she doesn't want him to leave. She seemed down when Amber left.

"Hi! I'm Kim Kibum but you can call me Key." I introduced myself again when I approached her. "What is your name?" I continued, curving a smile after I sat down next to her.

"Liu Sooyun." she replied weakly, just looking down.

'That bastard Amber! She is really his child.'

"Why Appa didn't bring me with him?" she suddenly asked looking at me with her sad eyes.

"Uhm, it's because he is going to his work. Kids are not allowed there." I explained to her.

"But he let me stay there yesterday. I don't mind if I get bored waiting for him."she said sadly and sniffled.

"Oh no, don't cry, Sooyun. Let's just wait for your Appa here." I console her.

"I want to be with my Appa."she whined. "I want my Appa!"

Geez! This is the reason why I don't want to have kids.

"At lunch time we will be going to his office to see him." I said to her and she stopped whining. " For now, just spend your time with me, okay?" I continued with a friendly smile.

"Okay." she answered and I never been relieved like this in my whole life.

"So what do you want to do? We can play whatever you want."

"I'm not in the mood to play. I want to see Appa."

"Did your Umma told you that he is your Appa?" I asked curiously and she met my eyes.

"I know he is my Appa!" she stated firmly and I curved an awkward smile.

"Right."

"So do you want to play while waiting for the time?"

"I guess it is more fun than doing nothing." She sighed.

"What a smart kid." I said as I ruffled her hair and she glared at me that made me stopped. "Uhm, so what do you wanna play?"

"Hide and seek." she quickly replied.

"Okay, I'm gonna count one to te..."

"One hundred."she cut me off.

"Hundred?"I asked and she nodded her head. "O-kay."

"Close your eyes and start counting." she said jumping off from the couch. "Don't peek, okay?" she continued.

I started counting, closing my eyes. I heard her footsteps and I think she's trying to look for a place where she could hide.

"Ready or not here I come!" I yelled when I finished counting.

I start roaming around the room but I can't seem to find her anywhere. I looked in every room in Amber's unit but there is no sign of her. I then noticed that the front door isn't closed anymore. My eyes widened when I realized something.

"Holy smoke! She left!"
