Chapter 8: Survival Exercise! (Part 1)

Natsumi's Pov

"Oh and by the way, of the twenty-seven graduates, only nine will be recognized as junior ninjas. The remaining eighteen will be sent back to the academy. In other words, to make this easier for Naruto to understand, this exercise is an extremely difficult one." Kakashi stated, with his usual bored expression plastered on his face.

Naruto and Sakura gasped in surprised while Sasuke and I were expressionless.

"Then, what was that test for?" I questioned, my eyebrows pulled together in a confused way.

"Oh that. It was just to select those who have the potential of becoming genin. Or not." Kakashi says, bored.

"WHAAAT!" Naruto and I screeched in unison.

"Well, that's the way it is. I'll be determining whether you pass or fail. Bring your complete set of ninja tools! We meet at five in the morning. Oh, tomorrow don't eat breakfast...or you'll puke." Kakashi says not looking back at us. Knowing him, he'll probably take his sweet ass time showing up here. Kakashi then turns his head around and tells us were dismissed.

"NATSUMI WAKE UP." I heard a voice yell. I opened one eyelid and glared at the person who disturbed my slumber. I sighed as I saw it was Naruto who was responsible.

"Why do you always do this to me?" I asked tiredly.

"Remember what Kakashi said? He said to meet him at the training field at noon so get up!" Naruto informs me, grinning like an idiot. Naruto leaves my room probably heading to where we're supposed to meet Kakashi. I start heading to my closet to get dressed (picture above shows her outfit). After I got dressed, I started walking towards the kitchen. I know Kakashi told us not to eat anything or else we'll puke, but I'm hungry and food is my life.

I took out leftover ramen and started heating it up. I ate my ramen but it didn't satisfy me; I'm still hungry.

'Oh well, after I get those bells, I'll get to eat lunch' I thought happily, gushing at the thought of food. I got my bag that is full of weapons and started walking around Konoha since Kakashi was going to come late.

I was still walking around Konoha until I remembered about the survival exercise. I started dashing towards the training fields as fast as I can. While running there, I accidentally bumped into a person.

"I'm sorry!" I said while Bowing quickly. The person turned around to look and me and placed their hand on top of my head. "Hm? Didn't I say to meet at that place at 5 in the morning?" The person said. I looked up and notice the person I bumped into was Kakashi sensei.

"You're one to talk," I mumbled under my breath but Kakashi heard me. He took his hand off my head and raised a brow.

"Well a black cat crossed my path you see, so I had to take a long way." He says making a lame excuse.

"LIAR!"

Kakashi and I walked together to the training field in a peaceful silence. As we got there, Naruto and Sakura turned their heads towards us and glared at us annoyed. Kakashi was oblivious to the glares he was getting from the two.

"Good morning kids!" Kakashi says with fake enthusiasm.

"What's good?" I said, grinning.

"You're both late, that's what's good!" Naruto and Sakura screeched.

"Well, a black cat crossed our path, so we had to take a long way." Kakashi and I said in perfect sync. Naruto and Sakura looked angrier at our sucky excuse but chose not to say anything, fortunately.

"Ahem," Kakashi coughs to get their attention. "Oh well... let's get started."

Kakashi then grabs a timer from his pouch and places it on a wooden post nearby.

"Okay, it's set for 12:00!" Kakashi says. He then takes three bells out of his pocket and shakes them making the bells jingle.

"Today's assignment is to take these bells away from me by noon. Those who can't do it, won't get lunch. They'll be tied to those post and I'll eat my lunch before your very eyes." Kakashi says evilly.

"So...that was the point for us not to eat breakfast." Naruto and Sakura groaned.

Sakura's expression then changes into a surprised expression.

"Wait a minute, there's three of us! How come there are only three bells?" Sakura questioned Kakashi. Of course, she'll forget I'm on her team. And wait...that was stupid of her to ask a question like that.

"You mean 4, idiot," I say annoyed, pinching the bridge of my nose.

Kakashi grins creepily making him even more creepy. Ya know what I mean? No? Okay.

"There are only three, so at the very least, one of you will be tied to the post and be disqualified. The other person who didn't get a bell will face a greater punishment. But then again, all of you could fail. You can use any weapons including shuriken to try to get the bells." Kakashi says.

"But that's dangerous sir!" Sakura yelled worriedly.

"Y-yeah that's right! Especially when you couldn't dodge a chalkboard eraser," Naruto said giggling like a schoolgirl.

"In this world, those who aren't skilled enough tend to complain more. Well, just ignore the loser...begin when I give the "ready-go" signal." Kakashi says seriously.

Naruto takes out a Kunai and spins it on his middle finger and dashes towards Kakashi. Naruto tries to stab Kakashi, but Kakashi quickly grabs his wrist and twisted it making Naruto groan in pain.

Sakura gasped amazed at how Kakashi can move fast. I was determined to beat Kakashi's ass for embarrassing Naruto.

Kakashi grabs the Kunai from Naruto's hand and points it at his neck. I take a step forward, a dark aura surrounding me.

"Calm down Natsumi." Naruto manages to say.

"Don't be in such a hurry. I didn't say start, yet." Kakashi says. Naruto struggles against his hold.

"But, you came at me with the full intention of destroying me." Kakashi starts. "So, how can I say this? I'm actually starting to like you guys." Kakashi says smiling slightly. He lets go of Naruto and Naruto stumbles but then gains his balance.

"Get ready...and start!"

Sorry for the wait *sweatdrops* but part 2 will come soon if I actually for once don't procrastinate. But I'm not sure, I might update next Saturday if I'm not "busy"
