chapter 14
MEGAN'S POV
"Megan! I think someone just pulled up in our driveway," my mom called from downstairs. Anna giggled and I hugged her goodbye. She could let herself out of my house later... I didn't want Will to think I had help with my look tonight.
I ran downstairs, nearly tripping on my heels, to get the door. I stopped with my hand on the knob, fluffed my hair, took a breath, and opened the door.
"Hey Will," I said, trying to sound casual. I took in his entire appearance. Dark jeans hung loosely around his waist, and he had a nice dress shirt tucked into his belt.
His sleeves were rolled up and I could see tan, muscular forearms as he shoved his very large hands into his pockets.
"You look... amazing..." Will said, smiling at me. He sighed slightly before all-out grinning. I noticed a dimple in his left cheek that I hadn't seen before. I guess he didn't really smile all that often.
"Um, thanks," I mumbled, blushing just a bit. "You do too..." I stared into his eyes and was captivated. When he smiled, his eyes lit up like nothing else.
"Oh," he said after realizing we had just been standing there silently. "We should go."
I nodded and let him take my arm and lead me outside. And I was totally unprepared for what awaited me there.
"Your car.. it's... it's... woahhh..." I stuttered. I guess I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this.
"You like it?" Will asked, a little smirk flashing across his face.
"Like it?! I... wow," I said shakily. He opened the door for me and I raised my eyebrows. I didn't usually get to ride in nice cars like this. "You didn't tell me you have a brand new Camaro..."
"It's my... cousin's... old car..." he said, watching his words carefully. "Well he keeps it here for when he visits."
"Old car?" I wondered aloud, squinting a bit. This was a shiny new red 2013 Camaro. It was by no stretch an "old car."
"He's... kinda rich," Will muttered. I decided not to press any further, and shrugged my shoulders. He would tell me about this rich cousin if he wanted to.
For now, I was just going to enjoy the ride. It wasn't every day you went out in a red Camaro! So I turned on the music, letting the words of Macklemore come pounding through the speakers as we drove to the restaurant Will was taking me to.
Soon the song finished and a familiar beat came playing over the radio. I screamed in delight, cranking the sound way up high. Will seemed to be a little frightened by my outburst.
"This is my favorite song!" I squealed, dancing along to the music before the lyrics came flying through the speakers. I could see Will was chuckling and shaking his head, but I didn't care. This was my song! When a voice came piercing through, I sang along, even though I don't have the best voice.
"Maybe it's the way she walked... straight into my heart and stole it!" I yelled out the words as I had hundreds of times before. "Through the doors and past the guards... just like she already owned it! I said, 'can you give it back to me?' She said, 'never in your wildest dreams!'" I was having way too much fun with this.
"And we danced all night to the best song ever!" I was surprised to hear Will's voice singing along with me. I laughed out loud as we sang the whole song together. He had a really good voice, which surprised me. And he didn't even hate the song, even though it was by One Direction. Most of the 16-18 year old guys I knew hated 1D, but not Will. He was full of surprises.
When the song ended, and some Austin Mahone song started playing, I turned the music down a tad. I looked at the boy driving, studying him.
"You surprised I knew that song?" Will asked, reading my thoughts.
"Uh, yeah," I said, startled.
"I have connections to One Direction," he said mysteriously. I eyed him, waiting for him to continue. But he didn't.
"What...?"
"I'll explain some other time," he mumbled, parking the car. "We're here!" I raised my eyebrows, still pretty confused. What did he mean he had connections? And can he hook me up?
"You coming?" Will asked, laughing at my lost expression. I took his hand and walked into the fancy place. We were greeted by model-looking hostesses who led us to our table.
We sat down across from each other and I smiled. Our waitress ran up to the table, a younger-looking boy following her nervously. Her thick ginger hair was tied back and she wore lots of freckles and a big smile on her face.
"Hi, I'm Alaina, and this is Seth," she told us, sounding genuinely happy to be there serving us. "I'm training him tonight, so he'll be helping you too," she said, her head bobbing.
We ordered our drinks from the perky waitress and shy waiter, who brought them back quickly. After we ordered our food, we began talking again. When I started hearing more and more about Will, I became more intrigued.
I could tell that tonight was going to be interesting, to say the least.
****
Have you ever ridden in a suuuuper nice car? I know for some people it's totally normal, but I would be really excited if a guy came to pick me up in a Camaro. Like let's be honest... Camaros are "just so hot right now!"
Sooo... question: how old do you all think I am? I was talking to some people on kik last night (you're all amazing to talk to btw) and no one guessed my age right. So any guesses?!
And how old are you all? I like to know who I'm writing for...
