•Nathan's POV•
Time, what is time? How much time do we really have? How precious is time? What would life be like without time? Why do some people have more time than others? Why am I wasting my time in this class? I wonder how much time I have. I avert my eyes from the clock above the classroom door. I hate history class, all our teacher ever does is ramble on and on about old dead people whose time has already ran out. I rarely ever pay any attention; it's not like I'm going to need this in my future anyways. I look out the window at the football field; for my future, I see a football scholarship and Kimberley Wilde. Tomorrow, Kimberley will be my girlfriend of four years. Kimberley is beautiful, she is my world. I turn to my best friend, Wade Barlow. "Psst, Wade," I whisper.
"What?"
"Whose last words do you think will be on your skin in black ink?"
"I don't know Nathan, maybe my soulmate's."
"Well I know that but who do you think your soulmate is?"
"Nathan Blackwood! No talking in my classroom whilst I am talking!" shouted Ms. Elizabeth.
"Sorry Ms. Elizabeth, it won't happen again." I apologize.
I hate Ms. Elizabeth so much. She's always in a grouchy mood. I continue my daydreaming as I stare outside the window at the football field. One day, when I'm older, I'm going to take Kimberley back here and propose to her on that field. I know that if she dies before me, it will be her last words appearing in black ink on my body.

"Man, Mondays are the worst," I sighed.
"Cheer up bud, ten more minutes till school is over and then we have football practice," reassured Wade.
"Yeah I know, but I just can't wait until tomorrow for my anniversary with Kimberley. It's gonna be so great!"
"Yeah, but today maybe you should actually focus on playing football in practice instead of starring at Kimberley cheer leading."
"What? I don't do that!"
"Hahahaha! What about last week when you got hit in the chest by the football when Kimberley was on top of the pyramid?"
"Oh yeah, Well, I couldn't help it. She just looks so good in her cute little cheerleader outfit."
"Dude, you're so weird!" laughed Wade.
"Well, at least I know who my soulmate is!"
"Why does that even matter to you so much? You're like obsessed with your soulmate."
"How could you not be curious about it? You've had to have wondered who your soulmate was at least once before."
"It's stupid. You won't even find out if they are your soulmate until they die, and then it's just too late. You make such a big deal about Kimberley being your soulmate, but what if she wasn't?"
Before getting the chance to reply, I get interrupted by the bell.

Wade and I don't say much in the locker room while changing into our football gear. We don't usually have any arguments in our friendship like this. Something must really be wrong here.
"Come on boys! Hustle!" Shouts coach Dave.
"We're coming coach!" Wade replies.

Once everyone is on the field, we start our warm up drill. We run ten laps to the fence and back. It's very exhausting but athletes need to stay fit. What helps motivate me, is that every time I run back from the fence, I catch a glimpse of Kimberley. Kimberley is what keeps me going. She's my everything. Does Wade not like her anymore? Maybe they got into an argument. What if Wade knows something about Kimberley? No, that can't be. Kimberley is the sweetest girl; she would never do anything bad. I shake the thought out of my head for now; I need to focus on football.
I was the last to finish my laps. After stretches, we move on to tackling drills. I partnered up with Wade, as usual, but this drill; he tackled me harder than he normally does. He grabs my knees and slams my body to the floor, knocking me on my back. Why is he so mad at me? "What the hell Wade?!"
"What? I'm just doing what I was told and tackling you!"
"Well damn! You didn't have to slam me down that hard!"
It's now my turn to tackle Wade. I am filled with rage. What is Wade's problem? Wade stands on the field, waiting for me to tackle him.
"Come on, show me what you got." Smirks Wade.
Oh I'm going to show him what I have; I'll show him real good. I sprint at Wade and pick him up from his knees. I hold him on my shoulder for three seconds and drop him onto the ground. I hear a loud thud. Maybe I hit him too hard. No, he deserved that.
"What the hell was that?! What's your problem?!" Screams Wade.
"What's my problem?! You're the one with the problems! What the hell is wrong with you today? I did the same thing you did to me, you deserved that."
"Shut up! I'm so sick of you!" Wade looks really angry now, maybe I went too far. His face turns red. He walks towards me and shoves me to the ground.
"Hey! Don't push me around!" I shove him back; that only made him angrier, and then things got really bad. Wade punches me in the guts. It felt like my guts were turned inside out; I felt sick. Everyone on the field forms a circle around us. Enough is enough, I go in for a side punch at Wade's face and I punch him on his left cheek. Wade really wasn't happy now. I could feel my fist throbbing from the pain. Everyone is looking at us now, trying to break up the fight by holding me back. I wonder if Kimberley is watching us. I see Coach Dave running towards us from the corner of my eye. I hear him blowing his whistle. It rings in my ear and suddenly, it's all I can hear. The last thing I saw was Wade's fist making its way to my face. After that, everything went black.
