This may be short. Thought it is better to update than to drag it for few more days.

No!

It can't be Zain, right? Hassan would have other friends too. This one won't be Zain.

"He is stable and is now shifted to the ward, but his friend is still critical" The receptionist's words didn't give any confirmations of that friend being Zain, but my heart felt something. Like a storm is upcoming.

Before I could ask anything, she moved to attend the call. I stood there just watching and waiting for her.

"Second left from here" She whispered holding the receiver.

The fear in me deepened. I so wanted to drive the feeling away but it came back with every second. I wanted to ask the name of that friend. When few moments passed and still she was on phone, Jamaal bhai spoke, "Shall we?" He gestured me to move. Nodding at him, I walked on the instructions given by the receptionist. We entered the general ward of the hospital. The sense of sympathy waved through me. Passing through two patients we found Hassan in third. A very sight of him constricted my heart.

His arm had a cast. His face had some bruises. The other hand had the IV hooked on to it. He was terribly bad. What the hell was he doing while driving?

"How is he?" I asked a nurse who was attending him.

"Better. Fractured his hand, but it will recover soon. Are you his family?"

I gave her a sad smile "Friend". Jamaal bhai all this time had his eyes fixed on us. I don't know why? but I felt uneasiness in him.

"You need to pay the bills" The nurse said handing me some papers.

I fetched some money from my purse and gave it to Jamaal bhai. "Please pay it and also ask them to shift Hassan in a private room" He nod at my word, moving out to pay the bills.

I stopped the nurse, who was about to leave the ward "I was said there's a friend along with him. Do you his name?"

"Sorry I don't know anything about that. You should probably check emergency ward" Giving a smile, she left.

I looked at Hassan, who was still sleeping. Maybe he doesn't need me here, at least for some time. With a heavy heart, I walked towards the emergency ward.

I could feel that something is not right. I tried calling Zain but it came switched off again. My legs halted before a nurse. I enquire about other patient with Hassan. She looked down at her record.

Don't be Zain. Don't be Zain. Just don't be. My heart chanted. All gone waste with those words she uttered.

"Yeah! They were three. Hassan Abdullah was shifted to the ward just now. Zain Usman is still critical and as for the other person with whom they collided with, Rajesh, has walked out with the minimal injures"

"Zain?" I mutter. Panic envelopes me.

"Yes" She nod.

"Are you su....sure?" I shuttered.

She gave me a boring look. "Yes, I am. The details were said by the other friend before we sedated him for the pain. Are you gonna ask me any other or should I continue with my work?"

If it was an other situation, I would have certainly spat back a sarcastic reply. For now I just gave her a nod.

"The third room" She said before going back to what she was doing.

I entered the room. My heart broke broke into pieces at a very sight of him. There he was. There he was laying pale, almost lifeless with numerous tubes attached to him. Blood was going into his body in one such tubes. He had an oxygen mask on. If Hassan was bad, then Zain was the worst.
