Zain's POV

I felt like banging my head on the wall.

Why? Why does mom have to do that? Kashaf's giggles erupted in the room. I wish the earth could swallow me.

"He would always wear them" Mom said, making Kashaf to stifle in laughter.

How much they could embarrass a man?

"He couldn't pronounce diaper, so he would always come to me saying 'Me needs dapa' " She mimicked in a baby tone.

"Dapa?" Kashaf asked. I could see her glancing at me from my peripheral vision. Another chuckle broke out from her. Photo album was perched on her lap. How I wish to take that away!

Mom continues with her story, actually 'my' story. "He was so obsessed with diaper that he would give hard time in wearing pants. He would eat our ears with his cries when we go out, because he wants his pants to be removed..."

Augh! She was better off at Dubai.

"...the family functions would be so embarrassing because of him" Yeah! Like how she is embarrassing me now.

"He would take the whole place in his head with all the screeching for his 'dapa'. Eventually someone would give in and he would have his pants off. Just imagine a 3 or 4 year kid running around in diaper?"

What if I liked my diaper more than my pants? Its not I like them now? Every child has his own fascination.

Kashaf threw her head back, laughing. "That would be a sight to watch"

Few strands of her hair came on her eyes, which she elegantly tucked behind her ears making her gold chandelier earrings dangle. That along with her laughter did something to me. It caused a strange feeling to erupt in me. All I wanted was to stop those earrings from moving.

"Look at this" Mom squealed suddenly. "Zain, do you remember this?"

She was holding a photograph for me to see. It was a picture of me and Zara. We both were in our uniforms. I was carrying my heavy schoolbag and Zara was grinning at the camera. I don't remember what the occasion was.

"If I say yes, would you stop embarrassing me?" I asked.

"Oh stop! I'm not embarrassing you. Am I Kashaf?" She turned her daughter-in-law, who very innocently replied,

"Of course not Zain. The stories of you in diapers are really cute" She held a poker face. I glared at her which only caused her to giggle. What's wrong with this woman? Why is she good with me all sudden?

"See!" Mom pointed, making me to roll my eyes.

"It was Zara's first day to school" She spoke proudly.

But Kashaf has to interrupt "Why is Zain scowling?" Is this the best thing she could ask?

Mom scoffed in reply. "Sibling problem. Having only a year gap between them, Zain was jealous of Zara on everything. He would always find a way to trouble the poor girl"

Hey! I was not jealous.

Only my wife would find a joke in that, cos she was laughing like crazy "I thought Zara was a troubling one"

Mom shook her head. "My daughter was an angel"

The devil was once an angel too. So was Zara.

"Oh my God! This is so..." Kashaf burst out laughing. What now?

She looked towards me and back to the album. I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion. But she shook her head, still laughing. Mom peeked at the album and she broke out joining Kashaf.
