~*Chapter Eleven*~

Three more minutes.

I turned my head slightly to look at Dane. He mouthed 'three more minutes'. I nodded at him.

Maths was so difficult nowadays so I don't concentrate at all anymore. Mr Channels was busy doing some Maths Chinese on the board whilst some of the students deteriorated in their seats.

"Please factorise this," Mr Channels says while pointing at the board with his blue marker.

x (3p - 7p) + 6p (5 - q)

That looks simple enough. Doesn't it?

After doing it multiple times and still not getting the right answer I shared my annoyance with my fellow classmates. After our little discussion I brought up the matter with Mr Channels.

"Sir this sum is unfactoriseable," I said.
"Factorise?" He said scratching his head. "Didn't I say simplify?" The whole class groaned in annoyance.

"Sorry guys," he said fixing his mistake.

We all started to redo the equation. Before I could right the final, correct answer Alessio opened his mouth.

"Sir, did you know that they have discovered a new plant?"

The whole class dropped their pencils on the table and Mr Channels took off his glasses.

"No, I didn't know that."

Well this is going to be interesting.

"Do you think it means anything?" Alessio asked.

"Why would it mean anything. They just discovered a new planet, that's all. It's not the end of the world."

"Technology is developing sir. And we're still stuck with candles and libraries. When was the last time we saw a cellphone? Oh wait, the only reason we know that cellphones exist is because Gale saw a photo of it in the magazines."

"Alessio we don't need tech--"

"What do you mean we don't need technology?" Alessio asked.

Mr Channels sighed.

"There could be life on those planets life beyond our stars. Who knows? Just like humans when the universe dies it will return to dust. Stardust. We live in an isolated jungle where things happen hat we don't understand but the stars. They know. The planets, they know. What do we know. We are nothing but men, mere mortals. There's a whole new world out there and I'll find it."

"Okay, Alessio calm down. Your obsession with the universe is--." I strayed but he cut me off.

"It's not an obsession it's an exigency, an necessity for survival. That's what you once were to me. You still are." Alessio's voice cracked on the last part.

"I never meant to be your Paris."

The whole class was silent. The way Alessio looked at me made feel something. I don't know if it felt good or bad but I just wanted to hug him at that exact moment.

Mr Channels coughed awkwardly. "Uhm... So what's the name of this planet."

"Well sir, since I was the one who discovered it I named it 'Bellamy'," he said looking directly at me.

He named it after my surname?

Why would he?

I thought he hated me.

"Adaira I l--" He was cut off by the emergency alarm.

I jumped from my seat, "Sorry Alessio, I've gotta go."

"I'm a prefect too let me go with you." He insisted.

"I'm sorry," I said while shaking my head no I ran out of the classroom before he spoke again.

Dane caught up to me, he didn't look very happy, "I swear if--" he started.

"Time to be a good leader," I said to Dane as I increased my pace and directed the masses of children to the hall.

"Please line up in your classes and make sure all your classmates are present," I instructed

"If your whole class is present you can sit down. We have already noted the sick," Dane said afterwards looking at me.

I stood by the door waiting for the teachers to arrive. All of a sudden there was an explosion from the forest. It was massive. I watched as the grey clouds of ash took over the sky.

That wasn't part of the plan. Another explosion went off and then the teachers arrived. Alice and Jase was with them. "What happened to them?" I asked. I could hear shouts and screams of fear from inside the hall. The teachers arrived but that didn't seem to calm them down. We walked into the hall with them. Cale and Jasper were missing. This isn't looking good.

"Where are the others?" I whispered to Alice.

"In your nursing quarters," she answered.

"What happened?"

"We were attacked."

"By who?"

Alice kept quiet, she looked pale. This wasn't looking good at all I hugged her closer to me. The teachers didn't notice and I was grateful for this.

"Guys will you please shut the --" Dane's voice was cut off by a the projector in the room turning on. This silenced everyone.

"Death is comedy to me," a men said sitting in his chair stroking a ferret. He looked familiar it's like I knew him once upon a time. "The way people die, so easily, so simple. It's quite amusing," he said with a cynical laugh.

"Sebastian?" Miss Avalanche asked.

Sebastian?

The man looked at her and started to laugh. "The Ice Queen lives," he spat out.

Ice Queen?

I wanted to laugh at this.

It was silent in the hall.

Okay? Am I supposed to do something?

The men looked around the room and his eyes landed on Alice.

"Chaos on you." He said with so much venom it scared me. He was looking at Mrs Avalanche again. He turned back to look around again. Then his eyes landed in me.

"It was you?" He asked in disbelief. He was beyond shocked.

What did I do?

That was the last thing he said before the projector turned off.

Trouble is coming our way. I don't know why but I felt as if the Grim Reaper was knocking on my door. The next thing Mrs Avalanche said shocked us all.

"Evacuate the school."
