Chapter 1: Dead in the summer

Clem's P.O.V

   As I dash through the forest I could hear the sound of the dead feasting on rabbits and deer, these sounds were followed by groans and that one awful decaying corpse smell.

Life was always like this, ever since I was eight. But I'm glad I was saved from my tree house by lee, I remember that day. I remember trying to runaway from my babysitter, I remember that my parents were out of town. I felt like I had no one,until lee saved me. But In all defense that house did separate my dead babysitter and me.

  While lee was saving me from the dead trying to eat me, he also took care of me like I was his own flesh and blood. He's the reason that I keep my hair short and the reason I'm still alive. But he's gone, I had to kill him, but he made me keep going. Now I'm with A.J. and Kenny.

Aj is only two and a half, and Kenny well he's still the same, he's gotten older but he's the same and he's the same loyal person I know, love, and trust. Yeah he gets hot headed when I'm not careful. Buts it's because he cares.

I look at Kenny who was running right beside me, who was running away from the Devils creations with me and little AJ who was in a deep peaceful sleep in Kenny's arms oh how I wish I was him. "Clem we are going to get surrounded if we don't find shelter soon" Kenny says with worry in his voice. "Don't worry Kenny lets go left there is less walkers in that direction." Kenny started running to where I told him to and with our luck we found a little gas station. We have been going three months with ten bottles of water that we only drank when we needed too. And only a little bit of food that would last us a whole month. Just to get to Atlanta.

"Clem look people." Kenny pointed near the gas station. And he was right, we saw two figures in the distance. As we got closer I could have observed that they were not the same age and both male one was tall and the other was wearing a cowboy hat and was a little smaller. "Hey!" Kenny yelled from afar. "Who are you" the taller one yelled in an accent sorta like kenny's but a little more stronger. "Oh hey hey I'm Kenny and this is Clem and baby AJ, and you two?" Kenny smiles.

"I'm Rick and this is my son Carl, look we just had a crises so I don't need new friends okay?" Rick says with a tone that Kenny won't agree with. I was behind Kenny and couldn't see what the two strangers looked like, I tried to go up and see them more clear but Kenny stopped me. "Hey look buddy we don't want trouble and we've been through what you've been through, so we share something in common, but please help us, do you have a camp set up that we can stay at, I promise we will stay for a week and leave as fast as we can" Kenny then looks at me in sorrow.

"Fine but we will be needing your help with something." Rick says and looks at me with pain in his eyes.

"Clem you should introduce yourself, I will go first okay Clem, I'm Kenny and Its nice to meet you two, me and Clem been through a lot thanks for taking us in." Kenny then looks at me and winks with his one eye.

"Oh I'm Clemen---" I end my sentence as I go up and see Carl's eye, I looked at him with a shocked and painful expression. "I'm sorry for what happened to you." I look at Carl "it's okay this wasn't you fault, it was no ones" I then shake it off and tell them facts about me "my names clementine but you can call me Clem, nice to meet you two, I'm very experienced in guns and anything sharp also if you need any help I'm here, and hey Carl if it makes you feel any better." I pulled up my sleeve and showed him my scar from the dog bite and the stitches. "I had to stitch it myself, don't worry you weren't the only one who felt pain"

He smiled and looked at his dad. "Okay let's head to Alexandria" Rick said. "Oh and Judith finally has a friend" Carl utters excitedly.

"Clem we can finally be safe" Kenny voices with all the honesty in his heart.
