"The court case for Sophia Mitchell is today at 11:00 a.m. You can watch it live here on NBC." The news reporter said. "Are you going to watch her court case with me, Lanie?" Mother said while walking through the front door with an armful of grocery's. "Only if you want me to." Mother winked at me. She has been acting super nice to me ever since Maddie's funeral. I guess she realized I'm all she has left and if she lost me her life would be over. "Then yeah. I'll watch it with you." "Good. But first," Mother said while shoving a heavy grocery bag in my arms. "You have to help me put away the grocery's." I laughed.
"The court case will be on in five minutes!" Mother yelled up the stairs to me. I sprinted out of my room and down the stairs. "I got the popcorn!" I yelled "I got the drinks and candy!" Mother yelled back at me. We both were in the kitchen now, we glanced at each other, then to the living room, then back each other. We both darted to the living room and dived onto the couch. We both started laughing. Mother turned on the T.V. and turned the channel to NBC where the court case would be playing live. "Rise as the victim's family comes in." The judge said. Mr. and Mrs. Wenkle walked into the court followed by Maddie's older sister. "Let the charged individual in." Sophia, Sophia's parents, and her lawyer all filed in. "Let's get this started so we can finish. Sophia, please rise"
