Right as I pulled into the state prison parking lot it started pouring rain. "Gosh dang it!" I hissed at myself. It was warm and humid earlier today so I wore a camisole top with really short shorts. That probably wasn't the best idea in the world. I sprinted in to the building and made it just before it started thundering and lightning. "May I help you?" The lady at the front desk asked. "Uhh...yeah, hi, Sophia Mitchell requested me for a visit?" The lady went through a couple files and started to dial up a number on the phone. "Dear, what's your name?" "Oh, Lanie. Lanie Lonkoon." "Can I have a guard come and escort Lanie Lonkoon to Sophia Mitchell please?" There was a pause. "Thank you. Dear, you can take a seat. Sophia is talking to her lawyer right now and will be able to see you in about fifteen minutes. There is magazines over in the waiting room if you're interested." The lady said. "Uhh...I'll wait thanks." The women smiled at me. I grabbed some of my books and homework assignments out of my bag. Might as well start on some of it while I wait. Bzz. My phone vibrated. I pulled it out of my pocket and saw a text from Dara:
Hey Lane,
Not sure if you're up for talking to me now. Or ever. I really blew it. Is there any way you could take my side in my fight with Lacy? I know that's a lot to ask for since you're both pissed at me but I know you're a forgiving person. Text me back. -Dara
That message made my eyes water. I missed her as a friend but could never take her back for what she said. I started typing back.
It's possible. But not probable. -Lanie
I pressed send. "Lanie?" I looked up and saw a big buff security guard. "Ms. Mitchell is ready to see you now." I quickly packed up my things and followed him to the visiting cell Sophia was in. "You have half an hour to talk to Sophia alone. Then I'll come in for the last ten minutes. Scream if you need help. She's been nippy ever since her arrest." The guard said. I smiled my thanks and walked inside. Sophia was sitting at the table hands cuffed and ankles cuffed. "H-he-hey Sophia." I stuttered. I wasn't used to seeing her like this. She was in a orange prison jumpsuit instead of her designer clothing, she looked exhausted and her face looked fleshed instead of looking nice with makeup, her hair was a mess instead of neatly done. "Hi. Shall we begin?"
