This is bullshit. Don't mess with my girly brain. I know you control everything, that you're all high and mighty, since you're God and everything. But seriously, don't be a jerk.
Why are you messing with me? You already kicked my heart in the ass once, and now I have to go through it all over again.
I promised myself that I wouldn't fall for anyone, not here, and certainly not ever again. I can't go through it again; nothing has healed. They still linger - all the tears, and all the low self esteem.
Not to mention an increase in calorie intake. Go ahead and try to trick me, but I'm not biting.
Sure, Liam is intelligent, charismatic, and uber handsome, but I just...can't. It's as if I've developed post traumatic stress disorder form the whole ordeal with Jeremy. I hate the fact that even after all these months he's still messing with my head.
I want to forget he ever existed, and that maybe I could still have my innocence. Back when I believed that people were good - when I trusted.
Look at me, bleeding heart. I whipped out my phone and immediately hit speed dial; I needed advice.
After a few rings a warm voice answered and I exhaled.
"Hey Cass."
"Em, code red. "
There was a pause, "Red? Or red red?"
"Red red."
"Shit man"
"I know, " I grumbled.
"Who is he?"
"This really amazing guy named Liam."
"Did he hurt you? Cause I swear to god I'll-"
"No no, he didn't. I think, he's Love is Love guy."
"You found him!?" she squealed.
After the cliché encounter at the party, I called Emma, telling her everything that happened. She of course nearly hemorrhaged with excitement and declared the whole scenario an act of destiny. But I just couldn't accept that whole 'fate' answer.
"I said I think. Emphasis on the think part."
She snorted, "When you know you know, Cass. But, why is this a code red?"
Emma sighed as she put it together, "Cassidy it's been over half a year."
"Seven months, three weeks, and two days. But I'm not counting"
I chewed on my lip as I watched for any sign of Liam. He would be coming back from the bathroom any minute now.
"Which is why you should move on."
It was an interesting proposition. I had considered it many times before, but my heart got in the way.
"It's not that easy."
"Jeremy did."
I was silenced; that stung a little I had to admit, but Emma was right.
"Thank you Em."
I could feel her smile through the phone, "You know I'm always here for you. Now go be free and flirty."
I laughed, " I miss you."
"You better...and I miss you too," she said.
We hung up and just as I placed my phone down, Liam arrived with a look of utter content.
"Hi!" I smiled. I should put more effort, he's not a bad guy.
He returned the smile, flashing me a set of perfect pearly whites. He had a gorgeous smile. Drool.
