I sank down in my seat. I glanced at my watch to see what time it was. 3:40 it read. I sat in my seat, anticipating the end of Mrs Cyvall's math class. I stared at the board to make it seem like I was listening but in reality I was thinking about this weekend. Me, Andy, Antonio, and Eli were assigned to do a "science project" together. We planned to just go to the science museum and write down whatever we see on some of the plaques.
Bring! Everyone stood up and shot out of the room faster than a speeding bullet. Well everyone except me of course. I had a natural tendency to be last or late, and sometimes both. Once I got into the main hallway of the school, Eli came up to me grinning ear to ear.
"Hey Riley, for the project, maybe we can get a big poster board to put all the info on. As I always say, bigger is better!" Eli said to me. Being the lumbering giant he is, Eli had a tendency to do things big and ostentacious.
"Um, yeah. That sounds good I guess." I actually didn't care but Eli is extremely persistent.
He walked away smiling. While I went to my locker, Andy passed by me and asked if I'd seen Anna.
"I haven't seen her today, but why do you care?" I asked him, slugging him on the shoulder.
"Shut up." He said.
As he said that, a firm hand tapped me on the shoulder.
"Gah!" I yelled.
Turning around, I realized it was only Anna. Anna was tall, smart, and somewhat athletic. But she had a temper. The last conversation I had with her, I made her angry and I got shin-kicked.
"Relax idiot, it's only me." She said, acting all innocent. "So what'cha talking about?"
"Well actually-
"Nothing!" Andy said to her, completely cutting me off.
"Classic Andy, always lying." She said rolling her eyes.
"Who says that we're lying!"
"Jeez calm down Chiang."
"Blah blah blah that's all it is with you isn't it?!?"
They fired back at each other for about 3 minutes and I wasn't sure if they were going to kiss or kill each other until Anna blushed and backed away. Andy leaned forward extending his arm. They simultaneously looked at me so I turned and just walked away. I did not want to see this train wreck. I got to my locker and turned the dial.
As I got to the last number, a thunderous BOOM! shook the school. And people started screaming.
