The Deltas

Chapter 10

   Jamie stood there, obviously terrified. She was shivering with fear, tears flowed down her red, puffy cheeks like a river of fear. We all stood there looking at her, not sure what to do.

   "Alright team! Let's um...do something! Riley, Eli, and Taylor, leave the building and get to the policemen on their way, it seems that Miss Yenga reported us as kidnappers so the standard procedure for the cops is to send in many reinforcements, so you three pursue them, and stop them from getting here. Anna, Andy, and Antonio, make sure no one gets in or out of his building. Zaina will join you. I'll stay here and try to erase the past hour from her mind." Rohan boldly said.

   "Sweet! First mission!" Eli said waiting for a high five, needless to say, he didn't get it.

   The guards left the room via Teleporters, leaving the three of us in the room. 

   "What are you waiting for? Chop chop! And also, no matter what happens, no one should die." Rohan shouted.

   We walked over to where the others had been a few moments ago, and the weightless feeling came back until we were back in the run down restroom. I opened the door letting the others out first, we walked out the front door and I saw Anna and Andy on the roof with Antonio below in the bushes. 

   Eli shrank down to about the size of a Barbie doll, and I looked at Taylor, who obviously didn't respect Eli enough to turn away from his loss of clothes. 

   "No way, I'm not taking Mr. Nude with me, put him in your pocket!" Taylor said to me with a disgusted look.

   I looked down at Eli, and he seemed somewhat disappointed. I picked his tiny body up by the shoulders and put him in the pocket of my jeans. Taylor looked at me, stifling a laugh. She completely failed and as she rolled her head back in delight, her eye caught something on the roof, I followed her gaze and saw Andy and Anna getting VERY comfortable with each other if you know what I mean. Taylor vanished into a puff of smoke and as she does, Anna falls off of the roof. 

    "You want round two? C'mon shortie!" Anna threatened as she got up.

   Taylor teleported back to he ground with her fists up. Ugh, we don't have time for this! I tapped into my powers and grabbed Anna by the shoulders and used all of my might to throw her into the bushes with Antonio, and I grabbed Taylor by the wrist and ran, following the road. We got to a clearing and I threw her onto the ground.

   "What's wrong with you!?" I screamed at her.

   She brushed herself off and looked at me "below the belt."

   "EYES UP HERE!" I yelled, pointing at my face.

   "Did you crap on yourself?" She asked me, not moving her gaze.

   I looked down and saw a milky-brown liquid drip down my pants. Eli climbed out and started throwing up.

    "Okay, you two may be used to traveling faster than the speed of light, but can y'all tone it down for us normos." Eli said between breaths.

   "Got it, but there's no more time for running." Taylor said pointing off into the distance.

   The faint Whoo Whoo of police sirens became more evident. There were three cars and one truck.

   "Alright, here's what we'll do, I'll distract them by stepping onto the road, Eli you'll sneak into one of the cars and put it out of commission, Taylor you'll need to-" I started before Taylor walked off.

   "I'll need to kick their asses? Got it." She said before she vanished.

   As she disappeared, one of the cars flipped over, and erupted into a ball of flames. I thought back to the first thing Rohan said...don't kill. No time for a plan I guess. The cars swerved off of the path at the shock of their fallen comrade. I shook my arm as fast as I could and grabbed Eli's wrist as I did he shrank, obviously catching on. I threw him like a javelin and he flew straight through the trucks windshield. I ran over to the scene where the police were getting out of their cars. I couldn't stop in time and I bumped into one of the guys, knocking him over.

   "Hey kid! Where'd you come from?" The standing one asked.

   "I don't know. Ask my parents, they say it was a swan." I say.

   I use all of my might to body slam the guy and he tumbles backwards. All of a sudden, the truck screeches to a halt. The driver's body flings straight through the windshield like a rag doll. He flies through the air and Taylor appears right in his path, and delivers a sharp uppercut to his face.

   Eli goes up to normal size and walks over to the most recent knock out victim, he unzips his uniform, and Eli puts it on himself. 

   "That...was....AWESOME!" Taylor screams, pumping her fist in the air.

   "I gotta admit, that was pretty cool, y'know, using our powers for the good of mankind." Eli says, strutting his stuff in the uniform.

   My mind drifts off and I think about the first guy Taylor took out. The car is turned on its side and a tiny flame flickers nearby. I speed over there, and pull the guy out. No pulse.

   We've just killed a man.
