Chapter 13

   Maybe I overreacted when I said he "fell on me." It was more like getting hit with a baseball. Anyways...

   Eli's body collided with mine and I fell over. He must've decreased his size during the fall. It still felt like a torpedo. I tried to pick myself up, but I got a nauseating feeling, and gave up.

   I woke up on a cot, in the training room. I got out and looked around. Everyone was on a cot, except for Taylor who was teleporting around the room faster than before. Andy had his arms and legs wrapped all the way around his cot, and had multiple bruises all over his body thanks to me. Anna was normal size, and looked fine. Antonio's arms were bandaged and his eyes were closed. Eli was the worst of all.

   He had a metal bucket near him and he used it for his vomit. He also had many bloody tissues that he continued to reuse for his constant nose bleeds. He also had an ice pack on his left eye. 

   "Eli? You okay?" I asked him.

   "No."

   "Hey, you unlocked a new ability! That's cool right?"

   "Riley, I'm not like this because of what Taylor did, Rohan said that my new power is having bad effects on me. He also told me not to use it."

   I didn't know how to respond to that so I just nodded and looked away.

   I looked at myself and I seemed to be fine. I stood up and ran a few practice laps. Everything was perfect, as usual. I smiled. I actually started to like my powers! In an instant my smile faded all thanks to a talking bear. 

   "Alright team! How was our first training exercise?" Rohan asked us.

   He got many moans as a response.

   "That good eh? Okay so this may have been a bad idea. But we all learned something! Eli learned about his huge new ability, Andy stretched the limits of his powers, Taylor went above and beyond with her teleportation, Riley and Antonio combined aspects of their powers to create a sonic boom, and Anna well...we'll keep working." He said, in between chuckles at his puns.

   "TMP man, too many puns." Eli said removing his ice pack, revealing his black eye.

   Andy's arms shrank back to normal size, and he walked over to me. He swung his fist upwards and I knew what was coming. WHACK! I could've easily dodged that but, I probably deserved it. 

   "Now that practice is over, time for the real deal. Your first strike against Dave."

   "WHAT?! You send us to knock out police officers, then you make us fight Hunger Games style, and what is it this time, disarming a nuke? Assassination? Tell me Joshi!" Andy said, getting closer to Rohan.

   "Anna I am sorry that you didn't win against Antonio and Riley but I'm sure your ego needed the shock." Rohan said with a smile.

   "Wha-No, I'm just concerned about-"

   "Please, I'm a mind reader remember?"

   Anna  got flustered and shut up.

   "Now, as far as the mission. You'll first need to wait until it's dark out, then you'll make your way down to the school and find what caused the explosion. You'll also need to scope out clues to figure out what Rishabh's true plan is. This assignment is recon only. No powers unless absolutely necessary, got that."

   I got a strange feeling in my gut and came to a shocking realization.

   "What if we run into the other kids."

   "What?"

   "You said that Rishabh found the others. What if they're at the site and are awaiting an ambush or something?"

   "That wasn't something I'd considered. Why so cautious?" Rohan said.

   "I met two of them."

   The entire room gasped.

   "A boy and a girl. One created ice or snow or something, and the other was a bear, then somehow a cheetah." I said, knowing I sounded crazy.

   "Perhaps this will give us a better image." Rohan said. 

   He clapped his hands together, and crated a bright flash. Suddenly we were all in the field. I looked up and saw giant Eli and Taylor in the sky. I turned to my right and saw myself. Could it be that we were in the past?

   <Heavens no.>

   <Rohan? Is that you? Did you make us time travel?>

   <No, I just transported us into your memories. Your past self isn't aware of our presence.>

   <Cool.>

   I watched, as my time clone encountered the duo.

   "What? You've never seen a talking bear? The bear said again.

   "Nice to see you again cutie." The girl said again.

   "Feelings not mutual." I said again.

   With a poof, we were in the training room again.

   "Oh great, I don't have the coolest powers." Eli said.

   "You never did." Taylor said with a smile.

   "I don't want to be that guy  but, SINCE WHEN CAN BEARS TALK?" Antonio asked in a demanding way.

   "They can't, he must be some sort of shape shifter." Rohan replied.

   "So he turns into living things?" Anna asked.

   "Precisely."

   "Nevertheless, the mission must go on. Listen up children, here's the plan."

   From that moment on, I became a superhero.

JK, I have no idea why I did that...
