What am I to you?

Chapter 5

I sighed as I slammed the door to my car shut. I turned around to walk to the entrance gates but ended bumping into someone. A pair of arms wrapped around my waist stopping me from hitting the floor.

"Are you always this clumsy?"

I looked at the familiar blue orbs and smiled. I'm sure my cheeks were now pink.

"Unfortunately, I am"

He shook his head and chuckled. I cleared my throat as I noticed his arms were still wrapped around me. His eyes widened slightly and he quickly loosened his grip on me. He awkwardly coughed and looked around. It seemed as if he was embarrassed. We began walking toward the entrance of the school. I began making my way to my locker.

"Are you ready for our Calculus test today?" I asked.

Ryder looked at me with an alarmed look. He began to mumble a couple of profanities before running his hands through his hair.

"We have a test? Shit! Jeanette I'm not ready to take a test!"

"Ok Ryder relax" I stopped walking and made him face me. I rubbed his arm.

"Listen, we spent a lot of time studying yesterday. I know you are freaking out because you feel that you aren't ready but you are"

He nodded his head as he let out a breath. I gave him a reassuring smile before pulling him into the classroom. He rubbed his hands on his pants before sitting down. I gave him a thumbs up and reassured his he would ace this test.

The teacher walked in the classroom and began passing out the test. Some students looked surprised. I bet they weren't paying attention to what the teacher was saying.

I neatly wrote my name on my paper before solving the problems as if they were my second nature. After what seemed like 30 minutes, the teacher collected the tests and began grading them. He passed them back out and I smiled at the small A drawn on the top right corner of my paper.

"How did you do?" I said looking over at Ryder. He stared at the paper with complete surprise.

"I got an A minus" He said in disbelief. I congratulated him and gave him a smile.

He stood up from his chair and made his way to me. He wrapped his arms around me before he began spinning me in circles. I chuckled at his excitement. I could feel everyone's eyes on us but I didn't mind as Ryder was happy. He placed me back on the ground. He cupped my cheeks and placed a small peck on my cheek.

I knew that my cheeks were burning bright with pink. A fluttery feelimg flowed through my body.

"You are seriously amazing! I passed the test because of you!"

He pulled me into a tight embrace before messing up my hair and walking back to his seat.

A small smile was placed on my face as I put my stuff back in my bag.

Seeing Ryder pass the test and how happy he was, makes everything that happened after he left worth it.

I could still feel everyone's eyes on us. I was beginning to feel uncomfortable and my face was getting hotter by the second. I sighed in relief when the teacher said we were dismissed. I made my way out the class and into my next one.

"How did you guys do in the test? I got a stupid 'C'!" Jenna said.

"At least you got a 'C' I fucking failed it" Matt said.

"I got a 'B'" Jane said with a satisfied smile"

"We know you guys passed! You guys looked so cute back there! Oh you would make the best couple!" Jenna aquealed.
