Jeanette's POV*
"What's up with you?"
I looked up and gave my brother a small smile. He sat next to me and placed some of my blanket over him. I laid my head on his shoulder and sighed.
I looked at the cars passing by. The cold wind was beginning to get rough and the sky was cloudy.
"Do you remember when dad bought this house? When we first came here you said that this was going to be your room. Dad though you were crazy because you wanted to sleep on the front porch. I remember you cried for a whole week when he didn't let you"
I laughed at the memory.
"In my defense, everything around here seemed like a fairy tale back then!"
A dog ran across the street as he chased a cat. Poor cat.
"Are you going to tell me why you've been sitting here since you got home from school?"
I looked over at my brother. Though he was the oldest, he always found a way to be there for me. Even when they left with my dad he made sure to call me every week. I may not have been completely honest with him but I knew that I could count on him if I ever needed him.
"Some stuff happened with people from school"
"Is that code for boy drama?"
"Not really but you actually guessed it"
"If you want me to, I can find out where he lives and kick his ass for you!"
I chuckled. My brother is a like a fluffy panda. He was the sweetest person every.
"How about we eat something! Is there anything to eat?"
He pouted his lips and shook his head. He looked at me with puppy eyes. I hated when my brother did this because he would always make me do whatever he wants. I sighed and rolled my eyes.
"What do you want?"
"Panda Express"
I extended my hand. He looked at it for a second and high fived it. I rolled my eyes and smacked him upside the head.
"If you're going to make me go to the restaurant, you need to give me money"
He groaned before reaching into his pocket and getting his wallet out. He took out a $50 bill and handed it to me.
"You already know what I want!"
I stood up and went inside to get my sweater and my keys. I grabbed my phone and made my way to my car. I turned on the engine and covered my ears as the music started blasting from the speakers. I quickly lowered the volume and sighed.
If I want to make it back home before it starts raining, then I need to hurry.
I made my way to panda express and parked my car. Once I payed for the food, I began making my way back to my car.
A drop of water landed on my forehead. I looked up at the now black sky. Drops of water began falling continuously.
"Kid you can't fool me. I know you're loaded, so hand over what you have while I ask nicely"
"You're crazy if you think I'm stupid enough to give you money"
I stopped dead in my tracks at the sound of the familiar voice. I quickly put the food in my car and made my way to where the voices were coming from. I hid behind the trash can and poked my head out. His blue eyes were shining as the moon light hit them.
A tall and muscular man grabbed Ryder's collar with one hand and his free hand held a pocket knife to Ryder's side. My eyes widened at the way the knife shined.
