Later that evening, Rocky, Brae and Lily sat around the table chatting about Brae's pregnancy. "I'm not sure which gender I want first." Brae said, as Rocky's eyes widened.
"First?" He sputtered.
"Of course, silly! I want more than one of each gender." Rocky looked faint and Lily couldn't contain her laughter. Then a sobering thought hit her. "Brae, what about your... condition? Will that pass to the baby?"
"I'm not sure, but would that be such a bad thing? My parents raised me with only a few inconveniences. It shouldn't be that bad."
"So Lily, Brae said you had news for us. What's happened?" Rocky inquired. "I've found a place to live."
"Yay! Where?"
"With Steve." Rocky smirked but Braelle's face was bright red. She started fanning herself with her hand."What's wrong, Brae?"
"Are y'all gonna get married?"
"What. Are. You. Talking. About?" Lily sputtered out while Rocky laughed. "The only reason that you should be moving in with each other is if you are getting married!"
"Oh you country bumpkin. There are many reasons why I can and will move in with Steve even though we aren't married, or planning to get married. He has an extra room and I need a place to live. Simple, Brae."
"While I see where you are coming from... Still, the impropriety of it all!" Still fanning herself, Brae left the kitchen. Lily looked to her twin. "What's your thoughts on the matter?"
"As long as you are happy and that you stay safe," he raised an eyebrow and motioned with his head towards the door that his pregnant wife had departed through," I'm fine with it." "Thanks, little bro." Rocky huffed indignantly and said, "Little? It was only three minutes."
"And I count that as younger than me."
She gathered the rest of her things and went back to her new place. She got the key out from under the plants and let herself in. She grabbed a blanket from off of Steve's bed and settled down on the couch to wait up for Steve.
The following morning, Lily woke up to the door rattling. She sat up and rubbed a hand through her tousled hair.
Steve limped in, tears in his uniform and cuts on his face. "Oh my... Steve, are you okay?" Lily rushed to where Steve was standing and helped him settle down on the couch. With a huge grunt, Steve sat down."It was a goose chase. We got ambushed by about 200 Hydra soldiers. There was no Bucky, no sign of him at all. Nothing." Lily laid her head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry. I know you were looking forward to seeing him again. Maybe one of these wild goose chases will actually pan into something."
"I hope so, Lily." Comfortable silence filled the apartment.
"Steve, have you fallen asleep yet?" He grunted. "Before you do, you need to take a shower and get into bed." He sighed again, but patted her knee and used it to get up. "Throw out your uniform when you get out of it and I'll start patching it up."
He did as she asked and when he got out of the bathroom, Lily was curled up on the couch mending the cuts and rips. "I thought you were kidding about sewing. Most women in this time can't even thread a needle, not to mention actually knowing how to mend."
"I learned from my grandmother. She and my grandfather were the ones that got me into the idea of Captain America. You see, you and the Commandos were the group that got him out of that HYDRA camp. You become something of his hero. My father told me story after story about how sad he was when you disappeared. The first thing I made with my Grandmother for him were pajamas that were modeled after your original uniform." She said, blushing as he sat down beside her in the couch and casually slung his arm on the couch behind her. "My grandmother showed me the comics and I fell in love with Captain America, but I think I like Steve Rogers better. Do you want lunch? After you left yesterday, I boxed up what you had out, and I have leftovers from Brae and Rocky. Oh, and Brae is pregnant! Isn't that awesome?" A snore answered her. She chuckled and went back to sewing up the uniform.
When Steve woke up later that afternoon, he noticed that Lily had fallen asleep on his shoulder. He nudged her gently, trying to wake her, but not to scare her. She grumbled and burrowed deeper into his chest. He knew that she had probably stayed up late with Rocky and Braelle, since there was no one in his apartment.
He wondered why she didn't sleep in the bed. She probably didn't know which bed to sleep in, since he made such a big deal when he was injured of where she would sleep while he was recovering. He was going to let her sleep in the bed  with him. That broke all the ideas that he had about the subject, but Lily didn't seem to mind. He knew that she wouldn't push him to do something he didn't want to, but it was time that he move his mindset into the 21st century. There was almost nothing left of his past; just Peggy, and Bucky. Peggy was slowly deteriorating in front of him and Bucky wasn't anywhere to be found.
He had new things that held him to this time; the main one was Ilia, but he also had Sam, Natasha and the rest of the Avengers. He had a duty to protect the people of this time and a responsibility to honor the memory of those long gone. "Quit thinking so hard, I can feel the gears grinding from here." Mumbled a sleepy voice.
"You're awake?"
"I don't know if I'd call it awake, but even asleep, you can tell when your pillow turns into a rock. What are you thinking about?"
"Just a little bit of everything." He said. Lily hummed, then said, "Well, quit and go back to sleep. Your body needs the sleep. And I want my soft pillow back." He relaxed and took her advice.
The following morning, she woke up on the couch alone. "What a great way to wake up. Alone and on the couch." Great booming laughter came from the kitchen. "Lady Haelilia, Friend Steve had some errands to run and asked me to stay with you until he returned. I have made breakfast, but we seem to have run out of Pop Tarts." The god of thunder stood in the doorway between the kitchen and the living room. She stiffly stood, made a quick run to the bathroom to pull her hair up and joined Thor in the kitchen. She grabbed two waffles and the Orange Juice. Thor grabbed the rest of the waffles, a handful of bacon, and a cup of coffee. "Think you got enough?" She quipped. "No, this is just the first course." He replied.
