I've been rly Stressed

Ryan had set a day aside for just him and I. It's really nice, since Spring has officially sprung. He says that since its so warm, we can actually go outside, and I'm extremely excited.

I told Pete about today being just for me and Ryan, and he understood. I knew he would.

The elevator is filled with exhilarating anticipation as we descend to the ground floor. This is the first time I've been outside in four months. It was strangely warm for most of October, and since I'm not yet allowed to go out into the cold, I was enjoying every last minute I got.

When the door finally does slide open, I have to force myself to not sprint out of the building.

I glide along next to Ryan, crossing through the lobby, almost shaking with how ecstatic I am.

Ryan looks over at me and giggles. Actually giggles. I would normally laugh at him, but that just made me even more excited.

At last, we've come to the door. I take a long, shaky breath in. Ryan pushes the door open.

I can finally have fresh air, rather than that of the hospital. It always smells like pee and antiseptic wipes.
I shudder and a breeze comes by. Bless.

Ryan guides me to a bench under a tree. We sit. I stare off into space, smiling at nothing and everything all at once.

"Daydreaming?" Ryan breaks me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah, I guess," I sigh. I'm happy, I'm ecstatic, I just feel like I'm missing something. I look at my surroundings.

The beautiful cherry blossom tree at my back, the stone and marble bench underneath us, the grass. There's a flower bed about thirteen yards to our left; a beautiful kaleidoscope of reds, purples, pinks, and yellows.
I take another deep breath, and cough a bit. Ryan, turns to me, just in case, but its merely a scratch; I won't be hacking yet.

Ryan smiles.

After about an hour, we head back inside, laughing and poking each other. Back and fourth, our own little game of tag.

We continue in the elevator, regardless of the refined nurse next to us. She looks a bit annoyed, but she gets off soon, so it doesn't really matter what she thinks. This is the first time I've actually had fun in a while.

When we finally get up to our floor, I hug Ryan, and thank him. But before we can part ways, he stops me.

"I forgot! I have something for you," he reaches into his pocket and pulls out something very small. He places it in my hand before I can get a good look at it, and says goodbye. He has to be somewhere else.

I peak at the object in my hand. 'Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel'. Huh. Nice. I open it to see what it smells like. I get a strong whiff of alcohol first, and then something else. Something softer. It smells like a candle. I love it.

On the way to Pete's room, I squeeze some of the neon green liquid into my left hand. I think this is my new favorite smell. Besides coffee, of course.

I try to skip the rest of the way to Pete's room, but my lungs nearly give way, and I'm forced to stop and calm down. I guess that's a problem for future me.

When I do get to the correct door, something happens to me. It's as though my heart is swelling. I feel calmer, more content than before.

When I open the door and see him, I feel at home. I think I finally know what I was missing when I was outside with Ryan.

It was Pete.
