After her father had died, their life was never the same. Her mom was very lonely and wanted someone she could lean on, which was how it all started.
Jessica and her mother would go out to dinner every Saturday to get their minds off of everyday life and to have fun, which was WHERE it started. They went out to eat at a "good, run down" restaurant with excellent food and magnificent service.
There her mom met a "at the time" nice guy, Bert, and they set up a second date, right after the first. At the time, Jessica was sceptical of Bert, but he soon grew on her. Bert was a very charming and romantic man, obviously his mother had taught him well. He would pay for dinner every time, pull out the chair, and even have a special touch on the way he talked. That was what Jessica's mom was most attracted too, his charming way of talking to woman.
Bert and Jessica's mom, Ally, got very serious after the first couple of dates and soon were engaged. They had a perfect life and didn't have any worries in the moment of their love. Ally apparently didn't know what she was getting herself into. But at the time she was in love and didn't focus on the small details, only she should have because this wasn't to small.
About a month later and no other lies that could get Bert any further with Ally's questions and his suspicious behaviors, Bert had to tell Ally and Jessica the truth. He had told them that he was living a lie and we were the only family who knew the truth. All kinds of thoughts ran through Ally's head and she felt like it was going to explode if she didn't ask the questions. But Bert was ready for them. He explained them all, and soon, Jessica and Ally really knew what they had gotten into. They knew they were in for trouble and it was like a gang life that they were all living, once you're in and you know the truth, there is no getting out.
