Ally and Jessica now knew the truth and they were standing there with their jaws wide open in shock. Here is Bert's story, to which he told to Jessica and her mom.
"I went to Harvard and got a good degree and, at the time, I had good intentions of where I was going in my life. I had a girlfriend that I thought I was serious with and I thought she was a good woman. Well no, she wasn't. Kelly, (Bert's ex) was involved in a gang that had done some major crimes in the past few years that I wasn't aware of."
By this time, Ally was shocked.
"You two wouldn't understand. Once your in that situation you can never get out. I knew there story and as a normal gang they wouldn't trust any ones plead of 'I won't tell anyone' not even mine. The next day I went down to the police station and they put me in a house where the gang wouldn't find my location. Then they had to change my name, looks, and the life that I lived. I moved here and started a new life. And now I have told you two and only you two, you must never tell anyone. I know you guys won't because we're married now and always will be, at lease I hope for the best. But there are consequences. We might have to move or make some adjustments if someone finds out my location. You'll be willing to do that right?"
"Mmmmhmmm" Ally replied lying nervously.
She now didn't want to be in this marriage. Now that they knew the truth, there was no divorce or splitting up because like the gang, he didn't trust there pleads of "I won't tell anyone."
This was the lie Jessica was living today and was afraid to go to school because if the Truth slipped who knew what would happen.
