CHAPTER TEN: MY SISTER DANGLES IN THE AIR

"Very good Ms. Kenny. Your turn Mr. Peterson." It was Tommy's turn.

Professor placed a quill on his table and waited for him the spell.
Tommy cleared his throat and said "Duro". His quill turned into stone. Professor McGonagall gave him a small clap. So far, Jane Kenny and Tommy were the only ones who mastered that spell. Up next was...me. I was so nervous. What if I fail ? What if everyone will laugh at me ? What if out Professor gives me detention ? I'd be so mortified.(as you can see,... I do worry to much !)

"Ms. Granger ?" Professor McGonagall gave me a small smile. I took a deep breath and hoped for the best.
"Duro" I whispered. My quill turned into stone, jut like Tommy's and Jane's.
"Very good. Keep it up, Ms. Granger. You just might turn out to be exactly like your cousin, Hermione." She finished. Oh yeah, I forgot. I'm Hermione's 'cousin'.
I turned to look at Tommy who was grinning like a fool and showing me a thumbs up. I returned one to him and smiled at Cassandra. I have really good friends. Professor McGonagall's voice brought me out of my thoughts.

"What did I tell you!? Did you even bother practicing !!!" She shouted at Poppy McClan. She just sniffled and bowed her head. Poor little girlie.
Professor McGonagall continued testing other students for another hour. Finally, class was over. Lunch here I come !!!
"Well, that was scary !" Cassandra joked. I nodded in agreement as Tommy joined us.
"Never mess around with Minnie. " he said. We laughed all the way to the Great Hall. Really, Minnie ?
We spotted Seamus, Dean, Ron, Harry and - what the hell !?!- what is she doing here ?- I swallowed hard and followed Cassandra who was actually walking towards them.
"Well, there you are...dear cousin" Hermione said, faking her wide grin. I returned a tight smile and sat beside Harry. He just winked as in saying 'What's up ?'. Tommy, who had no place to sit, was forced to sit beside my sister. He shot me a scared look and I gave him an encouraging one.
"So, Heather, are you coming to the Quidditch match tomorrow ?" Ron asked. I nodded in response while Tommy said "Hell yeah !". Silly boy.
"Good, because Harry is seeker and I'm Keeper " Ron proudly said. Hermione slapped his playfully in the arm and continued giggling. Wait...I've seen that move before. Back at home, she would do that same thing to any boy she secretly liked. Wow, Ron.... Congratulations...NOT !
Him getting married to Hermione is the last thing that I want. I didn't want to put that guy through many many many years of misery and regret. Hey, maybe it could work out, or maybe not. 
"Silly Ron, and No, Heather is NOT coming to match. She has lots of Herbology homework to get done. Don't you Heather ?" Hermione hummed. Really, Hermione...you're pathetic.
"Oh no, Hermione, I've already got them done. Don't want to miss such a big day tomorrow." I said, grinning.
"Okay then. It's settled" Harry said happily. Hermione threw me a death glare when no one was looking. I returned one too and she shut up.
"Pass the juice please, I'm parched" I said to Hermione. Instead she just got up and walked away, without another word.
Harry and Ron didn't seem to have noticed. What a shame. What lovely friends you have Hermione(just kidding, I couldn't blame them. They had their eyes fixed on the mango pudding).
"Well, be best be going. I want to spend my free period on the pitch. Join me, Tommy, Cassandra ?" I said. They nodded and got up.
"Okay. Where's Hermione ?" Ron asked, a chicken leg stuffed in his mouth. I giggled so loud everyone who was sitting at the Gryffindor table were staring at me.
"She left like five minutes ago.." Tommy said. Ron and Harry immediately got up and sprinted away.
"Did I say something wrong ?" Tommy said innocently. I shook my head slowly and walked away.
"Okay. So, we have no homework...what do you reckon we do ?" I asked once we got into the Common room.
"Practice some spells " Tommy suggested.
"Hang out with my brother." Cassandra said.
"Um- I would rather practice some spells if that's okay with you" I replied. I could feel my cheeks burn up.
"Okay- enough of your brother. Cassandra...stand over there " Tommy said pointing near the table. Cassandra did as she was told. "Okay. Now what ?" She asked, totally bored.
"Levicorpus !" Tommy said and the next thing I knew Cassandra was dangling in the air by her ankle. I let out a yelp and stood. Tommy then turned to me and said "Densaungeo".
I could feel my teeth growing bigger and bigger. "Stop- stop !" I tried shouting. Trying to that with gigantic teeth was really difficult. Luckily, Tommy understood and muttered the counter curse. And he did the same for Cassandra. She fell to the floor and groaned. "You couldn't that above the couch ?" She managed. Tommy chucked and said "now you two try ".
I nodded and did the same spell on Tommy. He was dangling in the air now. "I mean ton each other. Not me !" She said grinning.
"You meant to say 'well done, Heather'?" I teased. I let him fall on the couch and Cassandra huffed.
"What's say we okay a prank on the next person who walks in ?" Cassandra suggested.
"Okay" Tommy said immediately.
"I don't know guys..." I said nervously.
"Corn on, it'll just be for fun !" Cassandra begged. I nodded my head slowly as a response. 
"Okay. So here's the plan. Once that portrait swings open for someone to come in, we cast a spell ..." Cassandra said.
"What spell ?" I asked. 
"Levicorpus" she said, smiling. OH GOD !!!
We waited for about ten minutes for the portrait to swing open. Once it did, Cassandra and Tommy did all the work, while I just watched.
"What the - AHHHH !" The victim screamed. I uncovered my eyes to have a look at who our victim was and not was I surprised. My eyes were practically popping out of my sockets.
"Hermione ?" I said. She was the one dangling in mid air.
I helped her down and she landed with a loud thud.
"What was that for ?" She groaned.
"We're so sorry, we were just trying out some new spells " I said.
"Why try it out on me then ?" She managed.
"We didn't know it was YOU who came through the portrait hole.
"Whatever it is, you rats are so in trouble." She said, getting up. I prepared myself for the worst  
"Incarcerous !" She pointed her wand at me and within seconds I was tied in ropes. I fell to the floor as I lost my balance.
"That'll teach you .." She said before walking up to the girls' dormitory.
"I'll help you " Cassandra said. She waved her wand and I was free.

"See... Never play pranks" I said angrily.
