I tapped my pen against the desk repeatedly, reading over the calculus question once more in my head but being so distracted it made no sense. I sighed in annoyance and shoved my homework away and fell back against the couch, heaving out a breath of annoyance.

"Are you okay, V?" Leila asked and I didn't respond. Instead, I stared up at the ceiling, making shapes out of the random strokes of white paint. "Hello?" She asked, louder this time and I sighed and turned my eyes to hers sharply.

"I'm fine, Leila." I snapped out but then felt bad instantly when her expression became troubled. I sighed and sat up, running a hand through my hair. "Sorry," I grumbled out. "i'm just frustrated and distracted." I explained and she nodded.

"I've noticed." She responded and handed me a bottle of vodka which I took gratefully, opening it and taking a swig. Rarely did I ever drink but right now I needed it. Badly. "What has you so distracted though?" She asked curiously and the events from yesterday, from kissing Light to taking a soul, flashed through my mind.

"I have a question for you, Leila." I said seriously and her expression showed amusement and she nodded.

"Ask away, Vissa." She told me and I took in a breath of air.

"I kissed Light Yagami, Kira, and I liked it. Does that make me stupid? Idiotic? Slutty? I mean I don't think i'm Misa in the least but if I actually liked making out with that murderer than maybe I could wake up one morning with my hair dyed blonde and I squeal like a pig and-"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down." She interrupted, putting a hand out to stop my ramblings. "You kissed Light?" She asked and I nodded miserably. "And you liked it?" She asked slowly and I nodded once more. "Wait, did he kiss you or did you kiss him?" She asked.

"Does it matter?" I huffed out in annoyance and she nodded seriously.

"It matters a lot." She replied and I sighed.

"He kissed me but it doesn't really matter because I kissed him back and it was weird and thrilling at the same time and oh gosh could you just tell me what that makes me?" I asked with a sigh and she smirked.

"It makes you a total cliche." She scoffed and I frowned.

"How so?" I asked and her eyes gleamed in amusement.

"The good girl falls for the bad boy." She swooned and I scowled.

"I don't think I can be classified as a 'good girl' seeing as I'm an assassin." I retorted and she chuckled.

"No but you are his enemy and you stand up for the people while he is killing hundreds of people a day. You can totally be classified as a good girl in this story hun." She affirmed and I pursed my lips, hating that she was kind of right. "Plus, you're falling for the enemy, which is another cliche but an interesting one I suppose. But if he really did kiss you first, then this is good news." She told me giddily.

"How so?" I asked curiously and she grinned mischieviously.

"Because it means he's falling for you back. You could use that to your advantage." She said as it was the most obvious thing in the world. I groaned in  misery.

"It's not that simple!" I protested. "I don't think he can fall for anyone because I don't think he can love!" I groaned.

"It doesn't matter if he can or can't love." She explained. "All that matters is that he likes you. Whether it be love or infatuation or obsession or whatever the hell a sociopath like him feels. If you can keep whatever you feel for him in check then you can manipulate him pretty easily, V." And that's when it clicked.

How right she was. Why hadn't I seen it? It was genius! And so simple. How could I have not seen it? Honestly, it didn't make sense. I was pulled from my thoughts when my phone rang suddenly and I whipped my phone out of my pocket and answered it, putting it too my ear.

"V." I said and L's voice came over the line.

"We've got Misa in custody." He said montonously and I smirked.

"The tapes came back huh?" I asked.

"Yeah. She's being difficult though." He answered.

"I'll be over in a minute." I replied and snapped my phone shut, shoving it back in my pocket. "I've got to go to Task force headquarters. Stay here." I warned her, grabbed my coat and then headed out with a last goodbye from Leila.

"How is she?" I asked as I stood next to L, looking over the monitors. He bit his thumb and shook his head at my question.

"Refusing to answer any questions or admit to anything." He responded and I nodded. I figured as much. Her loyalty to Light was astounding to say the least. I couldn't tell whether it was idiocy or blind loyalty that lead her to keep his secret but even when her life was on the line she defended him.

Rem was in the room with Misa, conversing with her about something and I sighed. Rem was a pain in my ass from the very beginning and probably would be till the very end.

"Let me in to talk to her." I told him and he nodded.

"You think you can make her talk?" Mr. Yagami asked seriously and I nodded.

"Oh yeah." I answered arrogantly and I followed the hallway too Misa's confinement room and the doors opened with L's command. I walked in, seeing Rem and a blind Misa.

"Hello? who's there?" Misa asked fearfully.

"It's only me, Misa. Don't worry, I've had them turn off the camera's in here so we can talk privately." I told her soothingly.

"B-but Light told me you're-"

"Misa!" Rem warned her and Misa shut her mouth. "She's on their side, not ours." Rem warned.

"The cameras are off right?" Misa asked suddenly.

"Yes." I answered smoothly.

"Then I can say your real name right?" She asked and my eyes widened in surprise.

"Wait, Misa-"

"Valencia Chaisty
