I knocked lightly on the door waiting for someone to open the door. When no one did I knocked again, louder this time. Still no answer. I kick the door repeatedly. "Light answer the freaking door!" I shout. The door is thrown open and I tumble inside, crashing into the ground.
"Ow." I whine. I look up to see Light crossing his arms over his chest with a raised eyebrow.
"Please don't break the door, Kaya." He says with a sigh. I stand up, brushing myself off.
"You weren't answering." I object.
"Did you wonder if no one might've not been home?" He asks.
"Yeah, but I figured if I kicked the door I'd know for sure."I say with a shrug.
"So what are you doing here anyway?" he asks, walking upstairs. I figure he wants me to follow so I do.
"I can't just come over to come over?" I pout. He gives me a look.
"Alright I needed help on my history homework." I say meekly. He sighs and opens the door to his room, allowing me inside. I looked around. Over the past few weeks I'd been at To-oh I'd gotten closer to Light and now considered him a friend, however I was unsure of how he saw me. If Light was Kira, and I was about the same with L on that thought, then he wasn't really my friend.
"Sit down and I'll help you." He says. I pull my history homework out and look at is miserably. In all honesty, I did actually suck at history, so saying I was stuck on history homework was no lie. He sat down next to me, holding a pencil and helped me through the homework step by step. The longer I knew Light, the more I hoped he wasn't Kira.
He helped me with my history homework alot, was a good study partner, and he was actually a good person to talk to. Plus he didn't judge me on my unusual eyes like everyone else. He'd genuielly become my friend, and not just Kaya Shuzumi's but V's as well. However I also knew that the Light I knew might not be the real him, that he could be Kira and that there is a good chance he is, and I refuse to let myself get any closer, however it seemed impossible to keep away.
"Do you get it?" He asks, interrupting my thoughts.
"Huh?" I ask, dazed. He sighs in exasperation.
"If you don't pay attention how am I supposed to teach you?" He asks.
"Haha sorry, I guess I zoned out. Sorry I'll pay attention better." I say. He gives me a scrutinizing look and then continues, now with me actually listening. When he was finish explaining and I was done with my homework I sit back in my seat and sigh, looking up at the ceiling. And see a hovering apple. My face goes blank and the apple drops to the ground, with my eyes following.
"Light how did that apple hover in mid-air?" I ask, my voice full of shock. Light looks over from his homework and sees the half eaten apple on the ground, then looks up with a scowl on his face. He looked like he wanted to say something but refrained himself from doing so. He picked up the apple and threw it in the trash.
"Maybe it flew in threw the window?" he asks. I shake my head. He wasn't getting away with this.
"No it was hovering in the air." I insisted. He gave me a concerned look.
"I think you should take a break from homework, Kaya." He says. I glare at him and stomp my foot like a three year old.
"No it was." I hiss out, getting angry. He knew it was hovering, I know he does. Something shifts in Light's eyes and I realize my eyes are glowing red, like they do when my temper gets the best of me. I gasp and cover my eyes, trying to calm myself. Stupid, I know what happens when I let my emotions get the best of me. I can't control the shinigami side of me.
