Shinigami eyes (Death note)

chapter 6

I bit into a strawberry as I switched through the channels on the tv, bored out of my mind. I was so bored, I got excited when my phone rang. "Hello?" I chirped cheerfully.

"Someone's been bored." L's voice came through the phone.

"Incredibly so. There's nothing to do and I'm positively bored out of my mind. Why can't I join the task force, L?" I whine. He sighs in exasperation.

"Because V-"

"You're talking to V again?" I heard Light through the phone and that somehow made me perk up just a little. I turn on the phone changer to make sure if he hears he can't distinguish my voice.

"Put him on the phone." I say sweetly though you can't hear it with my voice altered. L hesitates for a moment and then hands the phone to Light.

"Mmmh hello Light Yagami." I say and bite into the strawberry.

"You're V?" He asks, sounding both incredulous and a little excited. How interesting. Kira was excited to talk to V.

"Well yes I am. You sound surprised. Did you think I was a society outcast where I talked through a computer and only to those I trusted completely?" I ask and Light chuckles.

"I heard that, you're on speaker V." L says but doesn't sound offended at all, which makes me laugh.

"Well good you were meant to hear it, L. So this is the potential Kira huh? He doesn't talk much. Speak, Light Yagami I want to know if you are Kira." I order and there's a few more chuckles.

"I like this V." A voice in the background says.

"Yes well spend a few hours with her, she turns out to be quite annoying." L mumbles. I roll my eyes.

"I am not, just because you don't understand big words doesn't mean I'm annoying." I pout and I hear L sigh.

"Anyway V, I would like for you to investigate a location for me if that's alright." L says, taking the phone back.

"What place?" I ask.

"Light Yagami's house." He says and I hear several protests in the background, to which L had to calm.

"Sure, but it's not like I haven't been in his house before, L. You think I haven't invesitgated your only suspects home yet?" I say and tisk. "You underestimate me, L." I say.

"Yes well I want you to investigate again." He says.

"Sure when?" I ask.

"Right now. Light and his father are here and his mother and sister are out with errands." He says and I stand up and stretch my legs and nod.

"Cool with me. See ya." I say and hang up. Of course he wants me to scope the place again. Which was understandable I guess. All the times I'd been there had been when I was 'studying' with Light and so I couldn't really snoop all that well. I jog down the street all the way to Light's house and pick the lock with ease and step in, locking the door behind me. In all honesty I wasn't doing this to help L at all. I mean I wanted to help him, but I couldn't exactly tell him what I already knew because I  had no hard core evidence first of all that wasn't paranormal, and second it was because it wasn't human business anymore, it was supernatural shinigami and soul reaper (me) business now. And I couldn't handle this the same way I could a normal human case.

But I did want to find Light's notebook. If I took that away, not only could I see his Shinigami and sentence him back to the shinigami realm, I could burn the notebook and get rid of Light's memories and get rid of Kira. He'd still be sent to his doom afterwards but that would end the deaths of many. I sigh and start in Light's room, searching under the bed, in the closest (magazines=ewww!) and the dresser. Nada. I check his desk but find nothing at all. Well this sucks.
