CHAPTER 10

True Colors

A loud roar can be heard throughout the Dragon’s Lair. Miku knew what the elder dragon wants. It’s a warning that if there are no replacements they will attack a nearby town.  Despite the fact that her job is to maintain the elder Dragon’s entertainment, she still wondered and keeps staring at the cave’s ceiling. Her expression can’t be seen due to her mask but she has an aura of wanting to go outside. She stood up to where she’s sitting, looked at the Dragon’s lair and took a few step towards the entrance.

“The ceremony of entering a new Dragon Gypsy will now start!” Miku raises her hands as she greets the girl standing in front of her.

Rin approaches Miku at the center altar of the Lair. She tried looking everywhere if she can escape from this scenario but she can’t find any place to run to. The entire Altar is surrounded with lava. The Dragon’s Lair is located below the sleeping devil’s mountain which is a sleeping volcano in reality. She gulped with nervousness as she approaches the Dragon shifter but she courageously faced Miku thinking that she will be rescued soon by her twin brother.

Len on the other hand with the help of Kaito was able to infiltrate the palace successfully without being noticed by the palace guards. Len follows the instruction of Kaito which keeping them unnoticeable. Len starts looking at Kaito’s back as he follows him and wondered; “It seems you knew this palace very well.” He starts thinking how Kaito can memorize such place if this is sacred. The whole palace is being guarded by top soldiers of the whole country so he knew very well infiltrating it should take time but it took them just half day to do it.

“Well, I’ve been going in and out for quite a while here since childhood.” Kaito gave a warm smile to Len. Len noticed that Kaito at some point has good memories inside the palace.

“Then that’s good. I can see you have a happy past.” Len smiled back. Kaito saw Len’s reaction and smiled too. They walk slowly side by side up until they reach the doors of a library.

“This is it.” Kaito prepares his weapon on his belt. He fixes his clothes while Len puzzled to what Kaito’s doing thought that they will attack someone inside the Library. He prepared his sword and took the chances while at the back of Kaito; “Are you ready? The person inside is a rude self centered bastard…” he smiled again with excitement. Len responded by nodding at Kaito while preparing seriously for an attack. Kaito suddenly kicks the door, entered the library, saw the man facing backwards at them and pointed out his finger to him; “You! Surrender as we are the mighty justice of love and peace!!”

“I heard what you said about me.” Standing in front of them is Gakupo who is a bit irritated; “Rude and self centered bastard you say?” he throws a large book at Kaito that made Kaito evade.

“Now, now Gakupo calm down… I’m just joking…” Kaito smiled again and made a peace sign. Len got more confused to what’s happening.

“Len this is Gakupo, a close friend of mine within the palace. He is a intelligent scholar who knows dragons well.” Kaito looked at Len and saw how Len is happy yet excited that he could see an actual scholar. He just read from the books how scholars are being chosen and he knew the job itself is very hard. He bowed down in respect and introduced himself; “My name is Len. I’m just here to rescue my sister Rin.”

“That compliment of yours Kaito won’t even move my irritation at all.” He approached Len as he looked at him from head to toe; “So he is the destined hero? He is a bit short to what I imagined.”

“Haha! Don’t be harsh with a kid.” Kaito laughs and Len got angry he purposely stamps Kaito’s foot using his foot.

“That expression suits you well.” Gakupo smiled as he looks at Katio who felt the pain in his foot while holding it using his hand.
