The cold light from the moon made the snow shine. Piles of thinning snow, perfect snow, were dotted between the trees. The cats twining between the trees made barely any noise in this snow stifled world. Her spread pads made the smallest of indents on the snow. It was a mystical, wonderful world.

They were late. The ThunderClan cats struggled through the snow, leaving thick trails in it. They arrived to see the other clans shivering, waiting for ThunderClan to appear. Moonstar quickly leapt up onto the great rock beside the other leaders, and he had the grace to look sheepishly apologetic.
"Let the gathering begin!" Fleetstar yowled.
"RiverClan has been doing well. The river hasn't frozen over yet and we have plenty of prey."
Miststar stepped forwards, the x-scar across her chest clearly visible. "WindClan has been doing decently. The first snow has made the rabbits hide, but we know how to hunt them. We have no new kits or apprentices."
Miststar stepped back, glancing over her shoulder. Willowstar padded forwards, looking tired.
"ShadowClan hasn't fared well this leafbare. The Shadow-cat claimed the life of Rockpaw, our newest apprentice. Prey has been scare but we will prevail."
Finally, Moonstar stepped forwards.
"ThunderClan has lost lives and welcomed others. Our deputy, Frostfall, was killed by the Shadow-cat last night. We have a new deputy, Echodream. One of our newest warriors, Lightnose, has also been killed by the Shadow-cat." After this news, ThunderClan dipped their heads.
"However, Morningdew has given birth to two kits,  Nutkit and Mintkit. That is all."
The leaders leapt off the great rock and padded into the woods, followed by their clans.

Defiance snaked through the trees, watching the clans depart. She stared up at the big rock, at the snow glittering on it. A shaft of moonlight shone on the center of it. It was an altar to the great silver pelt above. Of course, she didn't care about the spiritual importance of the dumb rock. Defiance didn't care if it was pretty. She stretched before leaping up onto it, feeling powerful. She padded over to a certain groove, lowering her head. In remembrance of  Peril and Broken, I shed my blood, she thought, and without a second of hesitation, Defiance slashed her right paw across her left leg, letting the warm, lovely blood flow into the groove. Peril and Broken had taken on the clans and had perished, right in the very groove she stood in. At least they ended with a bang.
Defiance would finish what they had started, she would make the clans pay for what they did to her family. She closed her eyes. A sacrifice would need to be made. A sacrifice on this very spot. She would let his blood flow slowly down the rock before trading the path it made with her tongue, drinking up the sweetness. She wouldn't kill him yet, probably.
Defiance shivered in delight. Capturing him was one thing, but breaking his mind was another. She wondered how the shecat would feel if she learned that Lightnose was still alive. Would she be shocked, sad, happy, or angry? It would only be a matter of time before she found out.

Hi guys, sorry for the short chapter, but I've been kinda busy. At least you know the motive for Defiance now, right? And I promise that the next chapter will be longer. Pinky swear.
