Chapter 12 I'll Keep You Safe

Marshall's P.O.V.

She asked me to take her home so I picked her up bridal style and slowly flew out. I didn't want to jostle her. I remembered before I flew out of the castle to open my umbrella. Fionna kept crying but eventually stopped. I looked down. She's asleep. She's so cute when she's asleep. I kept flying, just thinking about her. 'I hope she wasn't lying about me being her new interest.' She wouldn't have lied about something like that especially when she knew I would have been listening. Would she?

"No." I whispered as I looked down at her. "She wouldn't."

"I wouldn't what." She said opening her eyes slowly.

"Oh I'm sorry did I wake you?"

"No."

"You didn't lie about me being your new interest did you?"

She just smiled and said, "Of course I wasn't. I knew you were listening but it was time you knew. I had to be completely honest, for your sake and mine."

"Thank you." I flew in her window and set her down on her bed. She sat up on her bed.

"Is Flame here yet?"

"I'll go check." I went down stairs to find Flame walking in the door.

"Here. One cat."

"Thanks."

"Hey. You know I'm really truly sorry."

"Yeah whatever. Just do anything like this ever again and I'll rip out your throat."

"Got it." He nodded and turned to leave. "Oh and if you touch Cake, the fire won't hurt you."

"Thanks." He left and I went back upstairs to Fi.

"He left."

"You di-" I cut her off.

"No I didn't hurt him. Just get some sleep."

"Will you stay here?"

"Sure. Let me go find Ashley real quick."

"No need." Ashley popped up outta nowhere.

Ashley's P.O.V.

"No need." I popped up behind Marshall. He turned around.

"What took you so long?" He said with a bit of attitude.

"Oh, well..."

Marshall started to fly away with Fionna.

"Hey Flame?"

"Yeah."

"Would it be OK if I took a look around? This might be the only time I'll ever come here. It seems like a really cool place."

"Sure just don't get into any trouble. Your name?"

"Ashley."

"OK. Enjoy."

He left so I started walking around.

"So yeah. Marshall. That's what took me so long." I stood there looking at them. "What I'm a witch. I wanted to know the secrets of fire. Yeah I don't know them."

"Um OK."

"I'm going to go. See ya guys tomorrow." With that I left Fi's house and headed towards mine. She had asked to talk to me earlier. Wonder what she wanted to talk to me about... I'll ask her tomorrow. She's been through a lot today.

Fionna's P.O.V.

"Marshall. She left. What now? Are you leaving too?" I asked looking up at him.

"No you asked me not to. Remember? Go to sleep. Im going to sleep on the couch." He turned to leave but I said, "Um actually Marshall. C-could you sleep in here. Just in case I have a bad dream or something? I just need someone..." I started to tear up thinking about how Cake was always there for me. "I miss Cake." I whispered.

"Hey Fi it's fine." He came over to me and hugged me. "It's fine. She'll be back with us before you know it." Next thing I knew I was falling asleep in his arms. He was just so comfortable. I couldn't help it.
