Chapter 2 ~ Just Like That
I followed the herd all the way to a small clearing in a dense forest, keeping my distance I wandered around until nightfall. Then I made my move.
Galloping briskly and silently close to the herd, a place I could be seen if the horse looked very closely. I scan the herd, trying to find that palomino beauty from earlier. It was like we clicked when I first looked into her eyes. Just a single moment when my heart skipped a beat, and eagles soared in my stomach. I had to see her again, to see if she had the same feeling as me.
I find her sleeping all by her lonesome on the side of the herd, she was spaced apart from the fairly large herd. I cantered stealthily near her, still partially hidden by the brush, hoping my jet black coat will help me. I nicker to the lovely mare and wake her.
She jerks her head up and looks around sleepily, her eyes half open and her ears to the sides lazily. I nickered again and she found me. She turns her head, making sure she can go unnoticed and grafefully lopes over to me.
"You came back?" She asks with a tilt of her golden head and her beautiful warm brown eyes look into my own dark ones.
"Of course."
The mare seem flustered and pranced in place a little nervously and tossed her mane. I tossed my own and thought of a grand idea.
"Would you like to take a gallop with me?" I ask craning my neck closer to her ear so we could stay hushed.
She turned to look at her herd, her gaze lingering on the lead stallion, but she turned back to me and bobbed her head "Yes."
~~~
"This is beautiful, Strider."
"Thanks Esperanza, it's my secret serenity place."
Esperanza was thrilled at getting to know me on the canter down here, and even more excited when she saw the beautiful sight I was showing her. It was a small valley, with long sweet-grass and where we were standing was a small little hill that overlooked the big expanse of land and the beautiful mountains. We were stargazing and my it was a sight to behold, i'd never seen the stars shine so vividly.
Esperanza's neck was craned up as I stoped looking at the stars and the cresent moon and just looked at her. Soon she looked down and noticed my staring and pranced nervously again.
"What?" She asks.
"You're beautiful." I answer and tug some of her creamy white mane.
She prances again and nickers at me.
It was just like that, that we both knew, we were in love.
Soon the moment was broken when she murmured that she shoudl get back before her head stallion Phantom noticed. I took her back to her fast asleep her and promised i'd be back the next night.
With the final goodbye Esperanza nuzzled into my shoulder and galloped away, back to her little place adjacent to the herd and gave me one more star-struck gaze before lowering her head and closing her eyes.
I'll be back.
