I wake up the next day to the TV. I don't even know what show it's on, but I have the remote in my hand. The intercom on my ceiling begins playing the principal's voice.
"Good morning, students! Today is Monday, September 5th. There is no school today, so that's all. Happy Labor Day!"
I roll over and try to go back to sleep. This bed is so comfortable. I begin to get dazed again when there's a knock on my door. I roll out of bed with a groan of frustration and trudge over to the door. I stand on my tiptoes and peer out into the hallway through my tiny peep-hole. It's Miranda again. I open the door as far as the chain allows and stick my face into the opening between the door and the wall so that my face is in her view.
"What?" I say annoyedly.
"Good morning!" she says, oblivious to my hostility, "You are meeting Nate today whether you like it or not!"
"Um..." my heart skips a beat.
"Oh come on, scaredy cat. Don't be so nervous. He's only human."
"Yeah, I guess you're right." I say.
"So, will ya let me in?" she asks, tapping my nose with every word. I grab her finger and hold it still.
"When you come to wake me up again when there's no school, here's a tip for you, don't tap my nose." I say in my 'you did not just do that' tone.
"Okay. Now, will you let me in miss moody?"
"Sure, hold on." I close the door with a click, slide the lock chain easily out of its place, and reopen it.
"Thanks. Hey... You're still in your PJs!" she says, entering my dorm, "Come on! Go to your closet and get dressed!"
I groan annoyedly again. She plops down on my bed and turns her attention toward the TV.
"OOH! I love this show!" She says and suddenly, all attention is taken off of me and replaced by the flat-screened idiot box. I walk over to my dresser and pull out a pair of white-washed skinny jeans, a gray sweater, and my 2 inch heel-ed boots. I go into the bathroom and put on some eyeliner and mascara and brush my hair and teeth. This has always been my favorite sweater. It has just a perfect v-neck and shows off my curves. It's strangely cold out for September 5th. The high for today is 68 *F. That's what I get for picking a boarding school right next to the Mississippi. I hear a change in the TV's audio and I step in to see what Miranda changed it to.
"It's the Weather Channel." She says, "I heard you mumbling about how cold it was." she throws a smirk and light giggle in.
"What about your show?" I ask.
"The episode ended and I've already seen the next one. It's stupid. Come on! Grab your bag! Let's go!"
"Alright, hold your horses!" I yell with a giggly side.
"Who says that anymore?" she asks with a laugh.
"Me." I say.
We walked out of my dorm and came face-to-face with Nate. I pull Miranda back into my dorm and shut the door.
"Miranda!" I yell at her scoldingly.
"What?!"
"Did you bring him here?"
