Chapter Seventeen- Homeward Bound

I rolled over, now facing a sleeping Louis. It was about six in the morning and I could hear Liam moving around downstairs, probably heading to the gym.

I had woken up about ten minutes ago, thinking about my current dilemma.

My parents and sisters were going back to Bradford… and I didn’t know whether or not I wanted to go with them or stay with Louis.

My head told me to go with my parents, but my heart told me to stay with Louis. I didn’t know which to go with.

I know people always say to go with your heart and don’t listen to your head, but it’s so hard. Because before, I’ve always gone with what my head tells me to, and more often than not it’s gotten me out of hard places.

How can I choose between Louis and my family?

“What’re you thinking about?”

Louis’ voice shocked me out of my thoughts and I looked at him, my ears flicked up to listen. He chuckled, moving his hand from my side to my head, lightly scratching them before moving it down to my back, pressing me slightly closer to him as he leaned down, a gentle kiss being placed on my lips.

After about a second I kissed back, moving my lips against Louis’, a soft purr erupting from me. At the sound, I pulled back, blushing. Louis smiled, his blue eyes filled with sleep and love. I rested my forehead on his chest and his arms tightened around me, another gentle kiss being placed on the top of my head before Louis’ breathing evened out and his hold relaxed only the slightest bit as he fell asleep once more.

Following suit, I closed my eyes and relaxed against Louis, reveling at how calm I was.

Why was I being forced to choose between Louis and my family?

Ѫ Louis’ POV Ѫ

Zayn had been off all day, drifting into his dreamland, occasionally being distracted by Safaa or Harry.

Now we were in the middle of a game of Monopoly, Zayn sitting next to me, learning how to play and giving me a few pointers now and then. He catches on quick, I’ll tell you that.

“That’ll be 1150.” I sassily told Safaa, watching as the younger girl huffed and handed me the fake money.

“Give me two hundred for passing go, then, banker.” She sassed back, hand held out expectantly. Handing her two of the peach-colored paper bills, I smirked as I rolled the die and landed on the ‘Free Parking’ spot on the board and gathered the money, much to the protest of the others around the table.

Warm breath hit my ear as Zayn rested his head on my shoulder, eyes wide and curious as he looked onto the game, ears pricked and tail swishing back and forth occasionally.

His attention was focused completely on the game… until his older sister and mother returned from the store. With a toy mouse.

Game long forgotten, we watched Zayn chase after the mouse. Sometimes Safaa would join in but then start laughing too hard at her older brother as he lightly batted at the toy whenever he caught it, sending it off again.

At one point Doniya had picked the mouse up, quickly learning it was a mistake as her brother leapt up, crashing into her and sending them both to the ground.

We put the mouse away and Zayn curled up on my lap, soft purrs escaping him as I stroked his ears.

Life was good.

Ψ Zayn’s POV Ψ

“Zayn?”

I whimpered as I heard Louis’ sleep-filled voice called me from a flight up. Mum looked at me, nodding her head towards the stairs but I shook my head, quickly and quietly following her.

Since Bradford was further away from London than Doncaster, we were taking a flight home.

Louis didn’t know I’d chosen to go home with my family. He didn’t know I had a ticket, he didn’t know my things weren’t in the closet anymore, and he didn’t know I wasn’t going to be in the house, or even in London, soon.

Completely oblivious to everything, he was just waking up and discovering that I wasn’t in the bed, wasn’t in the bathroom, and wasn’t in the closet.

Doniya closed her door and we drove off to the airport, Liam glancing back at me every once in a while. Since my parents had only flown to Doncaster for a business trip, they didn’t have a car with them.

So Liam was driving us. We’d said our goodbyes before bed, only I wasn’t staying.

Halfway through the drive, Liam’s phone began to ring and a picture of Louis illuminated the cup holder it sat in. Suppressing a whimper, I turned my head and flattened my ears, closing my eyes and trying to drift off to sleep.

I was only able to after I imagined Louis’ arms wrapped tightly around me.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, okay, I’m cruel. I know.

I had to throw some kind of last-minute drama in there! Didn’t I? No?

Meh, the fuck cares.

I’m discovering for the first time just exactly why I avoid every single cotton-picking phone call from my grandmother.

The woman annoys me to the furthest depths of hell, I’m telling you. She’s 60-something so I can’t exactly wish for her to die off yet and she’s a good woman but I’m learning some things.

1.)    I fucking hate it when someone asks me with that little hopeful tone in their voice so you can’t even fucking say no to them. Hell, I’m hiding from her right now!

2.)    Love my aunts, love my grandmother, but apparently I’m possessive over my mother and clearly I don’t want anyone else around her.

3.)    I fucking hate estrogen. Long live testosterone, I need my dad.

4.)    I am a girl. Not just learning this but I wanted to point that out in case someone got confused about the whole hormone thing.

5.)    YOU GUYS ARE FREAKING AWESOME!

6.)    I need some kind of nickname for you people.

7.)    People actually follow me.

And I’m updating tonight because you people are awesome!

Also there’s a rant in one of the chapters of My Little Bird. I tried to make up for it by making the second chapter extra fluffy.

Anywho,
