"you feelin' better?"

"huh? what, yeah. it was just the stomach bug. i'm fine."

"oh, uh, that's good. you play video games, right?"

"yeah, why?"

"because i'm bored and need a recommendation."

"fallout is good. the last of us is great. you could just get the sims if you're desperate."

"thanks mike. what're you up to?"

"i'm walking around. plum and peach are in my backpack right now. we're exploring."

"you take your cats... on walks?"

"well, yeah. what else am i supposed to do? leave them at home?"

"yes! that's really not normal!"

"it's also not normal that you keep calling me. or that you haven't mentioned work in a while."

"schools winding down so work has increased. i'm still up at midnight and 1 to talk to you because i'm getting off work then."

"oh. i work at a record store. it's boring. although since i'm the only on my shift usually, i can blast music i like. work has its perks."

"huh. theres a record shop down the street from my servo."

"oh?"

"yeah, it's called something like 'spinner's records' or something like that. i don't know, some weird name starting with an 's'."

"that sounds about right."

"hey, why don't we ever text?"

"i don't like it, calling is more fun. hold up for a sec, i'm entering my building, just hang on for a
minute."

"...."

"okay i'm back. had to unlock the door."

"when does school end for you? mine let's out may 24th. then i graduate on the 26th."

"may 24th too. only 1 month away. man, am i excited to leave school. you going to university?"

"yeah, but a community college. mum doesn't wanna pay too much."

"i'm not going. wanna take a gap year. gonna figure some stuff out."

"mike, don't you want a good job and to get out of this city?"

"of course. but there's no way for me to pay for all of that schooling. parents and i have.... different viewpoints on some things. it's kinda rocky right now. they don't support me."

"shit mate. that's tough. any specific reason why they don't talk to you?"

"they didn't accept some things, and uh, you can see how that went. i had a week to get out and it kinda went downhill. so yeah, almost a year since they kicked me out. luke, if you ever get kicked out or you need a place to stay, call me."

"mikey i'll be fine. i don't want to intrude on your small family."

"i'm serious, if you need anything, call me. i don't care if you're drunk and need a ride, you get kicked out, or you even lock yourself out of your car. i can help."

"thanks. hey, its almost 2, i think we have work tomorrow, get some sleep."

"okay, goodnight luke."

"'night mike."
