"hey. thanks for today. sorry my mum called me home.""hey no problem. did you like lunch?"
"yeah! thanks for buying. the fries lived up to your words of praise."
"you're welcome. there's plenty of places i know that make really good food, so if we hang out again i can show you more?"
"sounds great."
"so....why'd your mum call you home?"
"she didn't really give me a reason, she just told me to come home. whatever her reason it got me home before the huge storm. its been going on for a while now. its like, what? 11:42 now? and its only gotten worse. how're your cats doing with all the thunder?"
"oh they're hiding. they're scared of it. i don't blame them. i'm looking out my window now and its really bad. like, really bad."
"SHIT!"
"lu, is something wrong!?"
"THERE WAS A HUGE CLAP OF THUNDER!"
"a-are you....s-scared of the thunder?"
"stop laughing! yes!"
"lu, it's okay. really."
"then why are you laughing!"
"you're just really tall and give off this super tough vibe."
"well i'm not tough!"
"yeah i know that babe."
"please stay up with me until the thunder stops?"
"hmmmmm, i dunno. i'm kinda really tired myself."
"michael! please! i'm not gonna yell that loud anymore, my mum's sleeping!"
"okay okay, i'm here. do you need me to do something?"
"talk to me? about anything?"
"i can do that. do you have a favorite food?"
"i can make a really good banana bread."
"nice, you should make it for me sometime. do you want pets when you're older?"
"yeah, i kinda want a dog or a cat. right now my family has a dog, molly, and she's a sweetheart. but at the same time i kinda want to have a kid when i'm older. i actually really like kids. but also, when i want to settle down, i want to move into an apartment. i'm not a huge fan of houses. they freak me out a bit."
"why?"
"i dunno. i think it stems from being raised in a house without seeing my parents or siblings a lot. my brothers, they're already in their thirties, so i never really saw them much when i was growing up. they came by every now and then, but by the time i was six both of them were out of the house. and then when i was in middle school they got married and had families. around then my mum started working again and then her and my dad got divorced. i know i've said parents sometimes, but i lied because i didn't want it to seem weird that mine weren't together. those years were kinda hard."
"but everything's better now, right?"
"mostly. it was harder on my mum because she knew my dad for so many years and to have her marriage gone... there were nights i heard my mum crying before i went to sleep and in the morning i'd have to take care of both of us. let's not talk about this anymore. do you want a house or an apartment?"
"i'm not a big fan of houses either. i'm used to my small apartment now, so it'd just be weird, y'know? and i'm not too keen on kids. oh! i never asked this earlier! how's the servo?"
