"we graduate in one week.""yeah..."
"school's out at the end of this week. just four more days. then we graduate."
"i know."
"i'm gonna miss it. in a weird way. kinda. sorta. i should be studying, i have my math final tomorrow."
"luke, get some sleep."
"no. i really, really don't want to sleep. and i'm not at home right now. i'm walking molly."
"its just past midnight, why the hell are you walking your dog."
"i'm not tired."
"so you figured walking your dog would help?"
"it wears us out."
"fair enough."
"what finals do you have tomorrow?"
"uh, good question........... history, and science? probably. i fell asleep while studying."
"oh, i woke you?"
"no! its fine. i, uh, fell asleep on my textbook. its fine that you woke me up."
"oh."
"hey, i'm making tea now, when you get home you should probably make yourself a cup."
"why?"
"god luke, didn't your mum ever make you tea when you were upset?"
"oh, i guess so. i'm still like ten minutes away from my house."
"are you kinda tired yet?"
"yeah. i'm yawning."
"good, good. tea and walking usually help my insomnia."
"do you often not sleep?"
"yeah. i think my record was three days without passing out. the third day i saw my hand go through my desk at school. i don't really do that now. i usually get three or five hours, depending."
"oh."
"its not really that big a deal. that was a lower point in my life."
"yeah. no. i get it. i kinda hit a low point when my parents were divorcing and stopped eating, so i get it."
"shit luke."
"hey, question. when you wander around because you can't sleep, where do you go? because you've been pretty much all over the city from what i heard, but if something happens to you, or like i need you or something...."
"oh, it varies. sometimes it's a loop from my apartment to your ex-servo, then just around until i'm tired, and then sometimes it's to the cliff at the edge of the city, that's usually on the really bad nights, and from there i sometimes sit on a bridge on the way back. occasionally i've gone on top of abandoned buildings, but i meander around. i dunno, it's dumb."
"hey, no. if you like it it's not dumb. listen, i'll bring you banana bread the next time i come over. say, friday night?"
"yeah that'd be nice. you almost home?"
"eh. kinda. i'm like five houses down from it."
"lu, please get some sleep tonight. for me."
"yeah, no, i will."
"thank you."
"no problem. are you going to bed now?"
"yes. i'm in bed now. i'll see you at school tomorrow."
"okay mikey. goodnight."
"'night."
