It was my 20th birthday. My foster home baked a cake for my birthday and we all sat around the table eating.
My birthdays weren't really special when it was with my family. But every birthday of mine, I always went out to the club with Karen. It was like a tradition of ours.
I told Janice I was going to Karen's and spending the night.
Karen curled her hair as we talked.
"Tonight is going to be the shit okay. My girl is turning 20!" She said excitedly.
"I know! Isn't it crazy? Where did the time go?"
"So are you ready to dance with some boys and maybe bring one home? I mean, it is your birthday." She winked.
"Um...yeah."
"What do you mean um yeah? Is there someone I should know about?" She chuckled.
"Yeah so I kinda invited that boy who gave me a ride home the other day."
"The one who beat up John?"
"Yeah. I don't know why but I feel like I could like him. I'm kinda hoping to dance with him tonight." I bit my lip.
"Oh Alaina! You go girl! I haven't seen you crushing over someone in a long time!"
"It's not a crush Karen! He's just someone who I feel like I could have a connection with." I smirked to myself thinking about Justin.

I was at the club all dressed up. Karen was dancing with some people when I decided to look around for Justin.

After a few minutes of rotating I decided to give up because I figured he wasn't coming. I turned around and bumped into someone. Justin.
Coincidence.
"There you are, I was just about to give up looking for you." I smiled.
"You were looking for me?" Justin joked.
"Oh don't act so surprised. I just don't have many friends."
"So you consider me a friend?"
"What else would I consider you?" I chuckled.
Justin shrugged.
Karen came over to us after she's been dancing for a while.
"Oh you must be Justin, I'm Karen. Alaina's best friend. I've heard a lot about you." She shook his hand.
"Oh yeah? And what did you hear?" Justin smirked.
I rolled my eyes. He's so cocky.
"Just that you've given Alaina rides a few times."
