*Josh's POV*
"There's no yellow bricks but happily ever after, we lived, the end," I sang.
This meant practice was over, No Place Like Home was the last song we practiced before the show.
The guys practically tore my arms off when they first saw I had brought the caffeine, when I got back to Mike's family friend, Jeanne's house. They were in crazy moods when I got there and the caffeine just made us even more insane!
Jeanne lived close to our concert venue and let us practice here before this show. It was a cute little house. It was close to the downtown core, and had a modern look to it, even though it was an older place.
"Thanks again Jeanne for letting us practice here," Mike said while hugging her.
"Yeah thanks J!" I said, while grabbing a Coke Zero from the stainless steel fridge.
I checked my phone, it was 4:46pm, meaning we still had some time to relax before the show. They usually ask we arrive at the venue a bit before for sound checks and such, but we still had some time to kill. I sat down on Jeanne's comfortable leather couch.
"No problem, I love hearing you guys perform anyways," she smiled, "Remember I was telling you guys about that girl Miranda?"
"Yeah I do, you told me but I don't think you told the other guys. What about her?" Mike answered.
"Well she's one of my great friend's granddaughters, and a huge Trencher. It was for her and her friend that I got the backstage passes. I was just about to call her actually, to make sure we meet up before the show. I have to give her these," Jeanne held up the backstage passes.
"Okay, I'll keep these three quiet," Matt joked then came and jumped on us.
"Heeeey! Get off man!" Ian yelled. We all laughed while trying to push Matt off.
"Shhhh!" Jeanne said with the phone at her ear, while putting a finger to her lips.
*Miranda's POV*
"Miranda, you're phone's ringing," Nathan told me. I looked down to see my phone moving from the vibration and the screen lighting up.
"It is? Oh I didn't even hear it! Thanks!" I pressed answer and said "hello?"
"Hi Miranda, it's Jeanne calling."
"Hi Jeanne! What's up?"
"I just wanted to call you to figure out a place for us to meet up. I have to give you the backstage passes," she explained.
"Oh yeah, of course."
"Oka-" I heard some muffling and arguing in the background.
"Give me the phone!"
"No, let me talk to her!"
"You're gonna freak her out, bro!"
"GUYS! Give me my cellphone back!" yelled Jeanne.
I heard some more rustling and then:
"Hey baby!"
"Uhhh...hi?" I answered cautiously, "Who is this?"
"This is Captain Fancypants!" a voice giggled.
Click. The phone hung up.
Well that was weird.
*Josh's POV*
"What have I told you four about grabbing my phone while I'm on it!" Jeanne scolded.
"I know, I know," I hung my head in shame, but continued smirking.
"Joshua! Don't think I can't see that smirk!" Damn, she caught me.
"That was hilarious, man! What'd she say?" Ian intriguingly asked.
"I didn't get to hear a response, Auntie J grabbed the phone and I hung up," I explained. She was really only Mike's family friend, but we all called her nicknames like "Auntie J" or just "J." We'd known her since the band first started up, and she was like an aunt to all of us.
That was funny, I agreed with Ian. I wonder if Miranda knew it was me. I disguised my voice so she probably didn't.
"Now I'm going out to call her again, you boys better behave yourselves!" she ordered, like we were 5 years old.
We all just laughed, and Matt suggested we play some pre-concert video games. We were all down for that of course.
Through the outside window, we could hear Jeanne's end of the convo with Miranda, I assumed.
"Hi honey, yes I'm fine, sorry about that"..."oh you wouldn't believe me if I told you"... "okay I'll see you at the T-shirt stand at 7"... "Bye dear!"
