I made sure to keep my eye on him when we walked. What was it about him that felt wrong?

"We will get to the next town tomorrow. How are you holding up?" he asked. He looked worried, as if any pain I felt was worse than death itself.

"I'm fine." I gave him a short answer, deciding not to tell him about my sore feet from the day before.

"Good," He stopped walking and turned to me. He slowly took both of my hands and held them in his. "A princess should never be in pain. And you will not, as long as I am here. Crystal, I-"

He was cut off when we heard a rustle in some nearby bushes. He let go of one of my hands and started to walk quickly through the forest, pulling me behind him.

"Onax! What do you think it is?" I tried to keep up as he rushed but I ended up tripping quite a bit. I never actually fell though, to my surprise.

"It can not be anything good. Not in these woods." He kept his gaze straight, watching the path he would take carefully.

"What if it was just an animal, like a rabbit?"

"Yeah, or it could have been one of those beasts." He looked back to make sure we weren't being followed, which ended up making him trip and fall, pulling me down with him.

He pulled me down before him and landed on top of me, catching himself before he actually landed. My face felt hotter than the sun.

"O-Onax...." I started to say before I was interrupted when he put his finger to my lips. He was looking around, still making sure we were alone.

After he decided it was safe he looked back down at me and said, "We're safe." He smiled happily and got off of me. "Are you alright? I didn't hurt you, right?" He stood up and half his hand down to me.

"Y-Yeah... I'm fine." I slowly took his hand and he pulled me off the ground. We were now face to face. His dark, soft eyes had captured mine. I couldn't get my gaze back.

"Good," a sigh of relief flew from his lips, "I do not know what I would do if I caused you pain." His words were sweet, like cotton candy. His eyes were soft, like clouds. I liked were we were, in the middle of the forest. "Let us keep moving." He turned and continued to walked, I followed him blindly.

Throughout our busy morning, I never realized how hungry I had become. I heard my stomach whine loudly. I expected Onax to turn around almost immediately, but he didn't. In fact, he never did. I didn't feel too hungry, so undecided not to tell him. I could wait till dinner. It was still odd though.
