I watched as a bloody Onax pulverize my captor. Once he was no longer conscious, Onax came and untied me.
"Oh my God... Are you okay? What happened to you? I questioned, looking over his face at all the cuts and bruises.
"We can talk later. He should be out for a while. We need to take the opportunity to get you as far away as possible." He answered.
"Why don't you just take care of him while he's down?"
"I cant," he paused, "Not yet at least. Come on, we need to go. Now."
Not again with these secrets. I'll ask him about it later. He looks tired.
We walked for the rest of the day till we were on the outskirts of a town. My stomach was making the sounds of a wolf, but if we went into town while I looked this dirty and with Onax looking as bad as he did, we'd catch the eye of a lot of different on lookers.
"I think we should wait here for the night, we can go into town tomorrow and get some food and supplies. For now, Let me clean up all those cuts." I said to Onac as we looked out at the night lights of the city below us.
"I think that sounds alright. Are you sure you want to clean them up, though? I'm sure I can manage to do it myself." He pulled out a canteen and a rag.
"No no. I insist. I want to do this. It's the least I can do." I took the supplies from him and opened the canteen to wet down the rage. I could tell from the strong smell that it wasn't water. "Sit down," I ordered. I guess I'm not very intimidating, because he chuckled as he sat down.
I kneeled in front of him. "This... Is probably going to sting," I warned him before tabbing at a cut on his arm. He didn't show any pain on his face as I gently cleaned his wounds, but I felt his muscles tense up whenever I got close.
"I'm so sorry. I should've noticed it wasn't you sooner." I felt the tears start to sting my eyes as I noticed how deep some of the cuts were. "And I should've fought back, like you taught me, when I did find out," my voice was shaking with every word, "but, he had your face."
"Hey, come on. It was a scary situation. I don't blame you."
I tried to hide my face by looking down, so he wouldn't see my tears. It was to no avail, because I felt his hand guide my chin up to look at him.
"Oh dear, it seems that you have a cut too. Here, let me help. I insist." He took the cloth from my hands, and carefully tabbed my forehead. I can't remember if it hurt. All I remember is the concentrated look on his face. He slowly wiped one of my tears away with his thumb. His hand moved away from my forehead, but his gaze did not.
"There. Good as new," he said slowly, seemingly distracted. His hand moved back up and cupped my cheek. His hands were warm. It felt good on my cold cheeks. He started to lean in, then he stopped and looked down, as if he were disappointed. "You need to change out of those wet clothes. You'll catch a cold."
Disappointment flew through me. "Yeah, you're right, but I didn't bring a change of clothes. I have nothing to change into."
And just like magic, he pulled some clothes out of His bag. "You can use these. They might be a little big on you, but you have to change."
"Alright." I took the clothes from him, still feeling myself pout a little bit. "I'll just go change behind those bushes. Don't look."
"Don't run away," he said as if being kidnapped was my idea. Yes, I had ran away before, but if I really wanted to again, I would've done it by now. I was upset that he didn't trust me, but I decided not to argue. I just took his clothes and went to change.
I walked out from behind the bushes and put my hair up. His dark clothes were nice and warm. I wore a baggy, dark gray jacket that had many pockets, a pair of cargo pants that I had to keep up with a belt, and a black tank top. Although my shoes were muddy, I decided to keep my own on.
I went back to Onax and he was reorganizing the stuff in his bag. I walked to a nearby stone and sat, still holding my wet clothes.
"Thank you," I paused, 'Now will you tell me what happened?" If I really am royalty, can't I just order him to tell me? I thought.
He sighed, "Yes, of course. You deserve to know the truth."
