Life was perfect. Perfect family, perfect house, perfect friends, and not trying to boast or anything, but I am at the top of my class. So yeah, my life was pretty good, but it almost seemed to good. I mean, nothing bad ever happened to me. That's until that one day that would change my life forever.

My name is Crystal. Crystal Gleam. I'm a 10th grade student at Beakon High School. I'm an only child. I live with my mom and dad in a beautiful, little house.

Now I was never the "popular" type, but the friends I did have were amazing. They were like my siblings. We always were together at school. We even had our schedules changed so we could all be in the same classes. The only time we weren't together was when I told them I had to study. They'd always say something like "You party pooper," or "No wonder you're at the top of the class," but I can't help it. I loved having a straight A report card.

It was now time for the dreaded "end of the year finals." This test would tell me if I passed 10th grade or not. I devoted all of my time to school and studying. Around this time I only see my friends at lunch, and I only pick up on little bits and pieces of things they're saying because my face is deep in a text book. Every now and then I'll say "Yeah," or "Really?" maybe even a "Go on," here and there so I looks like in listening, but they all know I'm not really listening.

The day was normal. After school I went home and hit the books. I gave myself a little break to rest my mind. That's when I heard a thud in my living room.

"Mom, Dad, are you guys ok?" When I walked into the living room, there my mom was, lying on the floor in a pool of her own blood. And right next to here was a creature that I could only assume was my dad. His teeth all came to a sharp point and they were covered in what looked like blood. Mom's blood. "Mom! Dad, what happened?!"

His eyes had changed to red and black. He stood and with a slight tilt of his head he answered, "Crystal? I guess I'll have to eliminate you as well. It was bond to happen sooner or later." With that he charged at me.

With tears running down my face, I screamed, "Help me please!" As if by magic, the front door flew open. A man with a sword stood there.

He yelled, "Crystal, get behind me!"

I thought to myself, 'How does he know my name?' but even so, I ran behind him without hesitation.

He lifted his sword and quickly stabbed the man that use to be my father, right through it's chest.

It was a sad sight, seeing the only family you had die right in front of you.

I looked at the man with the sword. His face showed no emotion, but his gray eyes looked at my dad parents with great sorrow.

"M...mom, d...dad?" I managed to stutter out. I broke down into tears as if I was all alone, with no one around.

With a strong, serious voice, the man said, "We have to burn the house."

"Wh...what? Why?" I said, my eyes still filled with tears.

"Because if we don't, more of those monster will come and find you." he pointed at my father. "I alone can't handle more than ten of them at my best. They could find his scent, then find your scent and track you down. They are probably already tracking his. We have to burn it, now. Then we'll leave the city." he spoke in a cocky voice as if what he said was obvious.

"But I don't know you, and I have friends and school here. I can't leave." I tried to sound as strong as I could but I doubt I was very convincing.

"What? You don't remember me at all? Not one bit?" he looked at me in a very sad way. They pause before he began speaking again was long. "Never mind that," he said regaining his authoritive voice, "we have to leave as soon as possible."

"Can't I at least say goodbye to my friends?"

"No! If these demons managed to find their way into your home, who's to say they didn't find their why to your friends?.

And just like that, my house, my family, and my friends that I once knew were gone in a blink of an eye.
