That's My Life Now

I wake up before my alarm rings. It's probably 'cause I'm nervous. I'm way too nervous to be honest... Why? Because today it's my first day at my new school since the day I came here which practically is yesterday... The school isn't as close to my house as it was when I lived in Brighton because apparently everything is far from each other here (another thing I hate here in New York), so my dad will drive me and my sister at our schools. I have breakfast, get dressed and I pack my stuff for school. I feel ill in my stomach and I want to go back to bed and never leave my room again, but my mom insists that this is normal since I'm nervous for my first day in a new country, so she makes me go to school. Me, my sister and my dad get into the car and we start our way for my sister's school! After we leave my sister at school (who apparently is excited for her first day ?!!?) we drive to my High School. When we arrive the only thing I can focus on is the amount of strangers... I've never been to a place where I had so many strangers.
"Have a good day sweetie" I hear my dad's voice on the background of my thoughts
"Thanks... I guess" I answer and then I see him leave
When I get inside I try to find the principal's office (because I'm a new student and that's what I'm supposed to do in order to get my schedule). I'm having a difficult time to find it because that school is literally huge...( btw everything in America feels huge). I'm scared to ask someone but then a girl comes close to me
"Hey are you new?" She says
"Uhm yeah..." I answer
"My name is Jenna, nice to meet you."
"I'm Jade..."
"Do you need help?" She asks
"I'm looking for the principal's office..."
"Follow me!!!" She says and we start walking together
"So where are you from?" Jenna asks
"I lived in Brighton, UK since two days ago" I answer
"Oh nice, so you're really new here!"
"Hahahah you can say that"
"Here we are, the principal's office!!! Go inside, I'll wait here..." She says
I go inside and meet Mr Phillips, the principal, and he gives me the schedule and writes down some informations about me. When I go out I see Jenna waiting for me.
"Everything ok?" She asks
"Yes everything's fine..."
"What do you have on first period?"
"Uhm Chemistry "
"Great me too...." She says
As we make our way to the classroom where chemistry is I can't help it but ask...
"Can I ask you something?" I say
"I know what you're going to ask... Why do I talk to you?"
"Well pretty much... "
"To be honest I'm kinda new too. I came from LA a month ago and my group of friends doesn't really exist because I'm the kind of girl that people want for company..." She explains
"Why do you say that? I mean, I don't know you but you seem nice"
"Thanks but a more like a bookworm type of girl who spends her time reading her favourite book and listening to music... And everyone here is different" she says
"Are you kidding me? And that's bad? That's exactly what I do in my free time!!!" I say smiling
"Omg I think we're gonna be great friends..." She says and laughs
"Yeah that's for sure"
We sit together in all our classes and got to know each other a bit better... Jenna seems a pretty nice girl and I am pretty excited that I got to find someone on my first day at school.
When I get back home I tell my mom about Jenna and she had of course that face of 'I TOLD YOU' which is the last thing you want to see from your mom! I went in my room and opened my laptop. Immediately around 50 notifications popped in my screen... It was from my blog. Messages like: where are you?, why aren't you writing?, how's America? etc.
I decide to write something in my blog

"Dear Readers,
Before I say anything else I want to say I'm sorry for not being active but there's been only 2 days since I moved to the States and I need some time to get used to that idea. Anyways, I missed you guys so much and I'm excited to share my news with you! New York is pretty nice and my house is very nice! I was lucky enough to make a friend on my first day at school. Her name is Jenna and she is just like me: a bookworm who listens to music. I'm really happy I got to meet her. I decided to make a list on this blog about things that are different here in the US. So here it is:
1) The accent is so freaking different. That's one of the things I'll find great difficulty to get over. Seriously I think it's annoying how people here say only half of the words like: 'cause (because), y'all (you all), ya (you) etc. [not to insult any of my Americans readers but I'm just pointing this out 'cause (see what I did there) it impressed me a lot]
2) Everything is way bigger than it is in Brighton. I mean my new house is double my house in UK and my school.... Oh God, I almost got lost in there today
3) The distances are huge. My dad drives 20 minutes for my school and the other day we drove 15 minutes just to get food

My fourth thing is one really nice fact I noticed here and is pretty cool
4) Here if you're 16 years old and older you're allowed to get a driving's license.... What?!?! That's so cool I can drive here... My dad told me that he'll sign me up for driving lessons!!

So that's the things that impressed me here but to be honest I really miss my friends and my boyfriend back in Brighton! I really wish I was with them but that's my life now and I have to get used to that...
I love you guys! Thanks for everything! Please write me stuff you would like to see in my blog...

Bye for now, Jade"
Right when I post it a Skype call comes on my computer! It's Adam!
"Hey... How are you baby?" He says
"Hi Adam, I'm fine! I miss you so much!" I say
"Me too. It sucks that I can't be close to you and hug you! I love you"
"I love you, too!
"I'm here with some people that want to say hi!"
*my friends suddenly pop in the screen*
"Omg guys... You can't imagine how much I miss you! You're the best! I love you so much!"
"We love you too Jade! How's it going? How was your first day at school?" Jordan asks
"It wasn't as bad as I though it would be! I even met a girl named Jenna, who loves almost every book I love and she says she's new too!" I answer
"That's so nice! I'm so happy for you! I hope you won't forget us now that you got a new friend..." They say
"What? No.. I would never leave you guys for someone else! You're the most important thing that's ever happened to me! I love you!" I say
"We love you too" they say
After a long chat we hang up and I go have a shower to relax a little bit! Tomorrow's Saturday so I don't have to wake up early! I talked with Jenna and we said to meet tomorrow morning to go for a walk and to the mall! She'll show me around! So nice of hers! Maybe moving to USA won't be as disastrous as I thought!
