Just as fast as he went behind the wall, he came back.
Rolling up the sleeves of his green plaid shirt, he walked back to piano, placing his lips close to the microphone.
"This next one is called Hold Me. Hope you guys like it."
The audience roared. I honestly debated if they even heard him.
Not bothering to take a seat in his chair, he let his fingers hover over the piano for a second.
A hard, quick melody filled the club along with Tom's angelic yet raspy voice.
With the rest of the band jumping in, adding that edge to the song automatically earning yet another reaction out of the club.
It was amazing how sucked into the music Tom seemed to get. It was as if he was in another world as his body moved with the music, his head bobbing back and fourth to the hard edgy beat of the song.
I couldn't take my eyes off of him.
All too soon, the song was over, leaving the audience begging for more. Tom grinned at the sight before him as he tucked his blonde hair behind his ear.
"Alright!" He smiled into the microphone. "Here's one I know some of you may know." He smirked.
His fingers roughly assaulted the keys of the piano as he bagan to sing. I immediately realize what song it was he was singing as I began to sing along with the blonde man in front of me.
The crowd began to sway with the music as they sang the lyrics of the song, Oh Darling.
Even The Beatles were no match for him. He was amazing! Pure talent.
Three songs later and the crowd demanded an encore, but unfortunately that was it.
"Thank you all so much!" Tom grinned into the microphone. "You all have been a fantastic crowd, thank you!"
With that, he took one last bow and disappeared behind the wall.
Almost immediately everyone began to scatter. I stood close to Ellie as people began to shove a bit. Most of the group were trying to get up some flight of stairs I had not even noticed till now.
"Where are they all going?" I looked up at Ellie who was searching the room.
"Up to the roof." Again, said as if it were the most obvious thing.
"The roof?" I questioned.
"Yeah. For the after party." She finally looked at me. "It usually starts a bit after midnight-"
"Midnight!?" I gasped.
I did not plan to stay past ten let alone over midnight !
"Yes. Midnight." Ellie sighed, "Look I hope your not thinking of leaving because I'm not ready to go." She crossed her arms.
"Fine, hand me the keys. I'll drive myself." I stated simply, holding my hands out for the car keys.
"And leave me with no ride home? I don't think so."
"Well-"
"Nope!" She cut me off. " You can't leave without me."
"Ellie, I - Wait." I narrowed my eyes at her, "You planed this didn't you!"
"Well duh!" She chuckled
"Ellie!" I should I have known there was a reason why she wouldn't let me take my car.
"Oh lighten up Alli. We both know you need this."
"Need what?" I said through cletched teeth.
"To loosen up! Have some fun! Get laid!"
"Ellie," my hands rubbed my eyes. I was frustrated and getting more ticked off by the second. "Stop saying that." I finished under my breath.
"C'mon Allison. Just this one night. Please?" She pouted as she batt her eye lashes.
I rolled my eyes, as Ellie clapped her hands knowing she won. She gripped my hand yanking forward. "C'mon!"
"Where?" I stopped her, taking my hand back. "And will you stop doing that?! I'm not a dog leash!"
"Oh can it. You'll live. And we are going to the roof Alli. Keep up girl."
"Roof?"
"Yes Alli. Roof. That's where all the action is happening. C'mon let's have some fun!"
"You mean to tell me, that we are about to go to an after party. Filled with intoxicated people, on a rooftop. With alcohol. Do.. do you not have any common sense?" There was no way I was going up there.
"Stop overthinking everything, Alli ! Don't think. Just do! "
"Ellie I -"
"Look, you said you would have fun. Fun is up on that roof." She looked up, then back at me. "It'll be fun." She persuaded.
Now as stupid as my friend was and as absurd as the idea was, the concept was appealing. From a distance though.
"I think I'll just wait here." I said finally.
Her hopeful smile slipped as she opened her mouth to say more. "Allison-"
"Go have fun. I'll be at the bar." I finished with a smile.
Ellie sighed in defeat as she cleared her throat, "Fine. I'll meet you here. Of course most likely extremely intoxicated and hardly holding myself up," She began to walk away.
I rolled my eyes as I couldn't help the smile of amusement on my face. And of course she wasn't done yet.
"Possibly covered in vomit that may not even be mine," She started up the stairs shouting behind her for me to hear, "I might have lost a shoe so imagine my balance then!" She disappeared up the stair but I could still hear her.
I rolled my eyes shaking my head as I began to follow my dramatic friend up the stair case , "Okay, okay." I breathed for only me to hear.
-----------------------------------------
Despite the temperature outside, I was flushed. Bodies were packed tight together as they moved to the beat of the music playing. I stayed close to Ellie as she continued to search.
"Are you ever going to tell me, who he is?"
"He's an old friend." She yelled over the music.
"Oh.." although I knew she didn't hear me.
"There he is!" She grinned. "Tom!" She waved her hands in the air.
I looked ahead to the direction she waved, as my eyes serached for the blonde man. Before I knew it, I was being hauled ahead by my wrist. Trying my absolute best to keep my balenced, I tried to stay close to Ellie being she was my eyes at the moment. Suddenly stopping, I stood up straight, taking my wrist back as I glared at Ellie who was completely distracted.
"Tommy.." She sing songed as a tall man turned around, green eyes beaming at the sight of her.
"Ellie!" He smiled his arms opening as she walked into them.
"I missed you, man!" She spoke into the hug.
"Yeah?" I saw the smirk curve his lips.
She pulled away suddenly swatting him on his arm. "Yeah." She rolled her eyes as he chuckled.
Suddenly his eyes were on me, quickly scanning me until they made their way to my eye.
"Friend of yours?" I assumed he spoke to Ellie, though he never took his eyes off me.
"Yes." She smiled walking to my side again placing her hand on my shoulder. "This is Allison. Allison. Tom."
His smirked settled on his pink lips as he extended his hand, "Allison."
"Alli." I said as I placed my hand in his larger one.
"Alli," he repeated.
"Yeah," Ellie began. I realized then I was still holding his hand. I quickly drew my hand back dropping it to my side. Rubbing the back of my neck, I felt the heat creep up, praying that it was too dark to notice the pink tint threatning to reach my cheeks. His smirk never seeming to fade.
"Are we drinking or what?" Tom chuckled as he shook his head. "You havn't seen me in months and all you can think about is drinking. You've not changed my friend."
"Hey, we can catch up later, right now I think we should have some fun!" Ellie waved her hands in the air as she grinned.
I couldn't help but roll my eyes at my friends. She is insane.
"You!" A finger was pionted at me as Ellie furrowed her eye brows. "You need a drink. Anything in mind?"
"Nah, I'm not-"
"I'll surprise you." She winked before dissapearing into the crowd. I groaned running my fingers through my hair in frustration. I turned around, face to face with him.
He had his shoulder leaned against the wall, ankles crossed as he chuckled taking a drink from the brown bottle in his hand.
"She's bit of a handful, yeah?" He said.
"You can say that again." I rolled my eyes.
"So whats a girl like you doing hanging around with a girl like Ellie?"
My eyes narrowed. "What exactly are you getting at?" I asked a little too quickly.
Way to sound defensive Alli.
He chuckled as he got to his feet, taking a step forward. He took another swig of his beer before speaking.
"Oh. Defensive tonight arent we?" He smirked clearly enjoying this.
I opened my mouth, quickly closing it again. Then opened it again, but just as fast I closed it. I glared at him. Which only made him smile more. The bastard was grinning at me!
"Who do you think you are?" I asked through gritted teeth.
"Well Tom Odell of course!" He stepped back, extending his arms on either side of him. In a show of display.
I rolled my eyes muttering under my breath, "Someones's a tad bit full of themselves."
Then he dropped his arms, stepping too close to me. He bent down, so he was directly in my face, "It might do you some good to remeber that next time." and he winked. Actually winked then walked away.________________________
