I stood there as I ran through everything that just happened. My cheeks on fire mostly from frustration.
Who does he think he is?! "Well Tom Odell of course." His cocky tone rang through my head. I crossed my arms, scowling at the memory.
"Oh that is not a pretty face, love."
I whipped my head to the side as Ellie came walking, standing in front of me. She held a drink in each hand.
"Yeah. Whatever." I quipped.
"And what's crawled up your ass?" She raised an eyebrow in mock hurt.
I sighed, as I caught a glimpse of the tall blonde behind her. He was standing within a small group of men, in the middle of a laugh; his head was tipped back, a grin replaced his smirk. His eyes screwed shut, one hand over his stomach, the other gripping a beer bottle.
I had to admit, the sight was endearing. Almost like a happy child.
The sight was also phony.
"Nothing..." I lied.
"You sure?" She narrowed her eyes at me.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I smiled.
I wanted to try again before I told Ellie anything. Second chances were my thing. We just got off on the wrong foot.
"Good." She grinned as she handed me one of the drinks in her hands. "Oh, what's this?" I eyed my clear, glass cup. A green lemon slice floated in the suspicious clear liquid. The precipitation from the ice ran down the cup, making my hand wet.
"Something to ease your troubles. Take some of that stress off your shoulders."
I rolled my eyes, handing the cup back to her. "I am not stressed nor do I need any easing."
"Shut up and drink up." Ellie snapped at me, taking a sip from her own glass. Her drink identical to mine, only half empty.
I rolled my eyes once more, taking a sip from my cool cup.
I instantly recognized the flavour of the drink as soon as it hit my tongue. Gin and tonic.
Suddenly looking at Ellie, I realize she was already looking at me, about to say something.
"Where'd Tom go?"
I unintentionally groaned at the mention of his name. Lucky for me, Ellie didn't notice.
Taking another sip of my cup, I pointed a finger behind her aiming at the tall fellow.
She turned around for a second and then faced me with a smile. "C'mon!" She reached for my wrist but I quickly whipped my arm behind my back, as I glared at her.
Her hand resting to her side again.
"Sorry," She smiled, "force of habit."
"No kidding." I grunted as she turned around shrugging her shoulders starting to walk again. I stood behind her when we reached the small huddle. There were four guys, including Tom. Immediately, Ellie was greeted with a hug from each guy. I shifted on the balls of my feet as I watched a bit awkwardly. I was completely out of place here and even a bit intimidated by the little bunch. They were all pretty tall, and seemed a bit older than Ellie and I. Ellie turned to me with her knowing smile.
"Alli, This is Goff. Max Goff." She gestured to a tall ginger, much taller than Tom, who stood to his right. His hair was slicked back in a very stylish way and an impressive beard.
He smiled at me, his blue eyes dancing, teeth showing. He extended his hand to me, I took it.
"Nice to meet you, Max." I smiled.
"The pleasure is all mine." He smirked.
I blushed a bit as I took my hand back.
Ellie then pointed to the man that stood to Max's left. His dark, brown, almost curly hair touched his shoulders. He was already looking at me but quickly looked away.
Ellie, obviously not noticing this, then pointed to him just about to speak again. But he cut her off.
"Hello Alli. I am also Max. But please call me Clilverd." His voice was low, deep, and alluring.
Clilverd intimidated me.
"Yes! And I, Goff. Saves for any future confusion." Goff quickly put in.
"You guys are both really called Max." I nodded my head.
"Yes." They both answered in unison.
I nodded my head in understanding, smiling, "Alright, seems easy enough."
Ellie giggled as she pionted to the lad next to Ciliverd. "Him over there. That's Matt."
Matt's smile was big and happy. Contagious even.
"How do you do?" He extended his hand.
"Alright, thanks. You?" I smiled.
He shrugged his shoulders with a nod, looking down at the floor as he tucked his short waves behind his ear.
I looked at Ellie who mouthed the word "Shy" at me. I nodded my head completely understanding Matt.
"And," Ellie started. "You've already met Tom."
He was still standing next to Goff. His body leaned against the table behind him. He just finished taking another swing from a shot glass. His red rimmed eyes found mine. This time I refusing to break the contact.
"Yes, we've met." Tom's words were slurred, his tone was playful, my guess it was from all the liquor he'd been consuming.
That infamous smirk plastered on his face looking straight at me. I quickly tore my eyes off him, swinging my head back finishing off what was left of my drink.
I needed another.
"Ellie?"
She was in the middle of a conversation with Goff when she turned her attention to me.
"I am gonna go to the bar." I pointed my thumb behind me.
She narrowed her eyes at me. "You aren't going to dip are you? I have the keys remember."
I couldn't help but roll my eyes at my friend. "Of course not, even though I should do exactly that because you lied to me. I am not. You have my word."
"Yeah, yeah." She rolled her yes, "Just be back in five or I am going after you."
"As you wish, your majesty." I giggled as she flipped me off.
"Oh classy." I giggled.
"The classiest." She winked taking a swing from Goff's glass.
I couldn't help my smile as I shook my head turning around making my way to the bar.---------------------------
"Gin and Tonic please." I smiled at the brunette bartender.
"Coming up." She smiled sweetly as she prepared my drink.
"I thought you weren't drinking tonight." A low raspy voice said into my ear causing me to jump and nearly shriek.
I quickly recovered and swung around in my stool coming nearly nose to nose with the one and only, Tom Odell. I quickly backed up trying to make distance.
"What the hell?!" I snapped at him.
Tom chuckled as he placed himself in the stool next to me.
"Scotch on the rocks." He said to the brunette as she placed my finished drink in front of me. She nodded her head in response. Tom then gave me his full and undivided attention.
"Can I help you?" I fired at him.
The bartender placed a shot glass in front of him. He wasted no time taking the liquor filled glass in his big hand and downing the bitter shot.
He then looked at me.
"You certainly can." He licked his lips.
Pig.
"Well I am sure they're are plenty of other girls in this club who can help you."
"Ah, but I already have my eyes set on one."
